My `05 CS:
Birth Date/Production Completion: 3.31.2005
CPO through: 8.13.2011

So far only major issues:
PCM @ 14k
Horn @ 18.6k
Coils @ 32.3k

Hopefully, I've got enough CPO time to cover the fuel pump, coolant, cardan shaft, and any other time bomb surprises on the horizon.

Your background screen clearly makes a time line statement in itself...

I"ve had the horn go a few times. Once it was replaced, I THINK (!) and a few times it would fix itself. I like that. Smart p!g! I hope it repairs itself when the shaft goes. Or the battery.

Riiiiight....

Hmmn, that avatar peeking up over the folder looks familiar....just can't put my finger on it. Doesn't matter, it does seem appropriate

Thumbs up Water in the spare tire sub-woofer compartment

Failed seal on the rear spoiler caused water to leak into the hatch. Covered under my CPO agreement on my '04.

Last six months:

- Coils
- Tailgate struts
- Glovebox lock
- Xenon lamp
- Rearview mirror
- Heated seat
- Oh, and almost forgot, new engine.

Where's that JD Power survey...almost threw it away. Hmmm, list problems here...

Another nice big expensive one.
Plastic Coolant tubes that run thought the middle on the engine cracked, lost all coolant. Replaced with new aluminum parts.

Wow, don't feel real special anymore:

I think the coils have been done 3-4x's.
PCM 2x
Transmission control
Transmission/ECM reflash multiple times
Drive Shaft
Airbag sensor "fix" ($600)
Airbag sensor failure - seat replacement... (3 weeks later, covered by warranty...and the end of my support for Porsche of Roslyn)
5 gallons of oil and counting.

Things on bat!
Right now my left side xenon is failing/flickering.
Despite seeming all the filing ooze out, I am told that my front engine mounts are "fine"...
I notice that SunCoast Porsche now sells a "coolant upgrade kit" and cardan shafts. So that looks like something to look forward too as well.

Sure I am missing something.

Enigma: I fear you were correct on Porsche of Roslyn. They have recently turned over new leaf, making the trip from NYC, not worth it. If I am going to raped, I will do it in Manhattan!

Just had my coolant tube replaced with update kit. Cheap plastic piece that required entire intake to be removed. Glad i purchased the extended warranty although other than the few items so far so good. Still going strong.

Default New Owner

I purchased a 04' Cayenne S about a year ago. The check engine light came on yesterday and it is obviously misfiring. After reading all of the posts, I am fairly certain that it is a coil/plug problem. Do you recommend going to the dealer or a private mechanic? The nearest dealer is 80+ miles away . I am concerned about damage driving it there and also concerned about the price. What is a fair price to replace all coils? Also, is it usually just one coil? Please help. Thanks in advance.

You can purchase the coils for as low as $18 bucks each, there is a DIY here if you do a search. Any decent mechanic could do it, I would print the diy and take it to one. If you have the time get the parts from sunsetimports.com, save yourself some money.

Posting in here since not many reports of this are listed. My second Cardan (main drive) Shaft went at 107k miles.

Unlike the previous annoying vibration sounds defining the end of the unit, this one was VERY like a gremlin under the car with a 5 pound hammer giving it all he can as soon as any torque was applied.

Took to the dealer this morning (really close) at 11mph, the ultimate drive of shame.

They have a shaft in stock maybe so hopefully it would take long.

On a lighter note, what defines a Phaeton owner ? saw one being dropped off this morning for service, not sure what was driving it
