The manual says every 20K, but I recommend every 10K. The oil gets really dirty/dark at 20k. This is for the Turbo and S. Not sure about the V6.

Also, Porsche recommends Mobile 1 Synthetic 0w40 or 5w40.

V6 is an Audi product & The S or turbo recommendations may not hold. The metalurgy is different therefore there is different acids in the oil. VW used to recommend 5 or 6K initial (if my recollection serves).

What does it say in the V6 manual??.

Wait a minute...

First MadFox tells me that these things are supposed to be washed and waxed.

Now Torags is telling me that I have to change the oil too?

51K miles with only one wash/wax and one oil change. What's the problem?

Cayenne manual (which lists base, S and Turbo models) states for the V6: The multi-purpose display prompts for the oil change service, except in countries where leaded fuel is used, in which case the engine oil and filter must be changed every 6k miles.

No mention of any different schedule for first change...just let the service indicator come on.

It differs on the viscosity range, however, for

V6 (0W-30 or 0W-40 for all temperature ranges)
vs.
S (0W-40 or 5W-40 or 5W-50 for temps above -13F/-25C; and 0W-40 for temps lower than -13F/-25C).

My advice: if you are gonna keep it beyond 50k, then perform the first change at 2k and again every 6k/6mos after that for dusty and dirty driving conditions (if they recommend every 6k for dirty leaded gas, why would it not be any different if you drive in LA smog or New Mexican desert?). If you do more highway driving, you should be able to safely extend the interval to 10-15k between changes. The service indicator says every 20k, which seems a little crazy...ANY engine these days with synthetic oil will last 50k with that kind of maintenance, but I would not want to be the second owner who takes it over 100k.

One more point of reference on synthetic oils: My brother has a 1984 VW GTI that's been maintained with synthetic since it was virtually new...oil changes every 5k and the little four-banger is now at ~170k and does not burn one drop of Mobil 1!
