One last q, do you need the oil filter wrench to remove the oil filter housing, or can you do it without?

I see Suncoast carries it, but at $39, seems a bit steep, unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks again!

You do not need that filter wrench for $39.95.
Autozone, at least in my neck of the woods had the proper filter wrench and it was only like $7.00. I am not 100% sure of the size since I have 3 of them(all different) stickers are missing stating the part #. It may be the size that fits VW-

The filter wrench I just bought at Autozone was 76mm 14 flutes and cost $5.95 and worked great and was made of metal.

Anyone have the part number for the oil filter wrench at Auto Zone? I checked for the 76mm but came up with nothing. They did sell a Porsche one online for $24.99 but which one is the $6 - $7 one?

The unit I purchased from them was for a Dodge IIRC. They did not have a specific unit that fit the cayenne or was labeled as such. It is hard to read but it looks like 1267 or A267 and the letters CTA are marked on the inside.

I have one that was supposedly for the cayenne that I paid up for. When I went to use it it didn't have the depth of this one and slipped without removing the housing. It looked like the one in the link above. This works perfectly on my 04 CTT

You're right, John Rose. Do you have anything to add? I know I am due for an oil change but my truck has not reminded me of an oil change. ???

It seems most folks wold have to go to a dealer unless they just Ignore it and put a sticker in the window . I did my 2003 966 turbo all the time but no light to set.

The oil drain plugs are pretty much one in front of the other. The Power steering fluid drain is toward the passenger side about 16".
Just did the same thing, but then realized its not the power steering fluid drain that is 16" away, its the front differential. I know this post is years old, but if someone ends up finding it (like I did yesterday), I just want to make sure you know the plugs are about 3 inches away from each other, and the other plug is the diff. Thanks all!!

Anyone use an oil extractor? I know you have to remove the front pan to get the filter but if it works. Worked great on my TDi.

On older V8 Cayennes the oil sump was molded so that oil extractor wouldn't get all oil out. I have a '06 and it has the newer design already. I don't know why they changed it and when. Anyway, with air suspension, this has to be one of the easiest cars to do oil change. No lift needed and plenty of room to roll under the car with a creeper.
