Value of a major 40k mile service? Turbo is sold!
Curious to know if anyone has actually paid or received a quote from the dealer for the 40k mile service interval. I completed these for the buyer of my '05 Turbo, and was just curious if my estimated value I put at it is fair ($1,500-2,000). The parts alone for the service, including 8x plugs and 8x coil packs was over $700. In good faith, I went ahead and replaced all coil packs regardless of any cracking. Wouldn't you know it, I got in there and not a single coil pack was cracked! Plugs were in great shape.
Buyer is getting a phenomenal vehicle. I am absolutely bummed about selling. A few pics from the day below...
Matt
With the siblings...
Giving a bunch of parts to the buyer...(front rubber disk was extra since new shaft came with one)
Final bath...
Detailed the engine "while I was in there..." (i.e., scrubbed every part I removed or had access to with engine cleaner and armor all)

Looks great! Buyer looks like they're getting a super clean car. I just swapped my plugs/coils after 60K miles. Plugs definitely in need of a change, coils in like-new as far as I could tell. Also did my engine bay; even though nobody will likely ever see it, makes me happy whenever I do

Getting the 40K service at the dealer on my 2013 Cayenne Turbo in 2 weeks. Since they replaced the plugs at 30K, just before I bought the car, the price they quoted for the 40K SVP is $850. They said it would’ve been $1300 with the plugs.

Nice car! Looks like a lucky new owner. You clearly have taken great pride and care in it.
Yes, a dealer would have easily charged $1,500-$2k for the service. The general formula seems to be:
Take the total price of all materials and parts (even things involved that didn't necessarily need to be replaced) and triple them to get your out the door price at a dealer. IF this value is less than $900, but greater than $100, then they just figure out a way to make it land around the $1k mark or above with added nonsense. If it comes out to less than $100, then there is a good chance there will be no charge. Note: it almost never comes out to less than $100, because there is only a handful of parts on the car that Porsche sells for less than $33!
