Scary Problem
I have a 2007 cayenne S. it’s got some serious problem.
It it shuts off after it sputters.
No diagnostic errors are logged
no coolant temp issues.
Nothing else.
After it voluntarily shuts down it won’t start. The starter is incapable of turning the engine.
Open the oil cap and some wisps of white smoke. Acrid Smoke.
Give her an hour. She starts again. Shuts off after twenty minutes.
We serviced the injectors. Rebuilt the pumps. Checked the plugs. Ran a diagnostic.
We found one cat converter had melted. We cleared that. But suspect engine damage. Severely blocked cat converter.
Any leads?

Sounds like it overheated and damaged the bearings. Were the plugs normal when you pulled them?
When the starter wont turn it over, pull the plugs and hand crank it to see if it is seized from heat-swelling.
