Pepper finally threw a hard code. Starts haven't been great but wasn't expecting this. Just wanted to check this looks like the HPFP before I drop the $ on one.

It looks more like coils to me - when is the last time they were replaced? Certainly not an uncommon failure..

Coils and plugs were replaced with ECS tunings BERU kit about 500-1000 miles ago. I've been throwing codes for the p1026 off and on for a bit and ignoring which is why i'm think this time it's fuel related.

Mine ran a code for lean condition when the fuel pump started to go. Then it started to lose power and die randomly; the issue got much worse very quickly.

I have a genuine Porsche left fuel pump for sale in the parts classifieds at a discount!

Following up....brought it to the dealer who did diagnose it back to the HPFP. It was replaced as part of the soft recall back in 2009 (i think?) and they were very surprised it failed again. We negotiated a good price for them to replace it.

My 957 gts, 6speed. The morning start take few extra moments and the first 30 seconds of driving feels rough. Also happened few times when slowed down from higher speed (from 85 => 60mph) car choked up, almost like being in the wrong gear. It all goes away. Just wondering if the HPFP is about to go. No codes yet.

Are you sure there are no pending codes? I saw the P1026 code in pending status long before it threw a hard CEL. Sounds like you could be exhibiting early signs.

It was very intermittent with me. In fact, the dealer even said it likely will happen on first start after sitting but subsequent starts should be fine. I made it 60miles to the dealer no issues and they replaced it.

Thank you for the suppert Mr.Turco

UPDATE: Installed the new HPFP. The p1026 went away right after the install with no need to clear.....cool.
Favorite part is to finally get an instant start this morning. No more long cranks. I drove the car yesterday for 100 miles. Noticeably smoother drive, it also seemed my fuel economy slightly improved. I should have done this long time ago for sure.

I don’t have any hard codes, but it’s taking awhile to crank over. Well it doesn’t take awhile all the time but at least 60% of the time(it always eventually starts) and I’d say it’s running a touch rougher than usual. Gas mileage is about the same at 16-17 all around. Battery is probably only a year old.

I thought it might be the starter or possibly even a wiring issue based on previous research, but I guess it could be the HPFP. I guess the HPFP is a less involved repair then the starter though. About 135k Miles here btw.

If it is the HPFP wheres the best place to buy the part?

i read on another forum that a guy called Porsche NA and referenced the previous WA29 TSB campaign and got a $500 Porsche voucher. Guess it doesn’t hurt to try!

ECS and Pelican are relatively the same price. There are cheaper options on ebay, but it's ebay so YMMV. Mine had it replaced in '09 and it still failed, which is extremely rare. You could try to fight porsche but prepare to pay $1k-1300 for the part.

Got this one, seller took $450 for it, free shipping. Arrived in 48 hours. 3 year warranty. Made in Germany. Installed it myself, no issues besides the need to perform the adaption process via PIWIS tester.
