I was just quoted for a new steering rack $1000 for my 05 cayenne and $600 for pump for power steering...is this reasonable?

Dealer? Yes. Aftermarket/independent - no. A rebuilt rack can be had for less than $400, and the pump for around $150-200. Do some searching.

What are the symptoms that cause you to ask this question? And year/model of your Cayenne?
