Default Cayenne S (4.8ltr) - Hella Ballast Unit No. 5DC 009 285-00

I need to replace my Hella Ballast Control Unit, for my late 2007 Porsche Cayenne 4S, as detailed in the title above. However, I'm struggling to find a unit for it. Has Hella changed the numbering and if so, does anyone know what the correct replacement number is and do I need to buy two units, as there may be a slight difference in the unit's characteristics, as a result of the update?

I have recently bought 2 Hella units, part numbers 5DC-009-060-30-AK-AL-xenon Control Unit AFS GDL for Porsche Cayenne / Panamera from German supplier (on ebay.) Hope they will work okay, but, the supplier has 99.8% positive feedback and they guarantee the units will work on my car, but, you need both, as it's compliant with the replacement Porsche unit, new part number 955-631-194-03. Hope this will be of some help. I will keep my working unit, for some time, just to make certain that I don't have any problems with the replacement units.

Did the replacement units work out for you then?
If yes do you still have your old unit and willing to sell it?

Hi

The new units and headlights did work but still got the headlight warning notice. I still have 1 of the original units and am willing to sell it as I no longer have the car.

Best Regards

Well that sucked, so even after new units installed the warning light still came on?

I want to buy your old original unit, can you PM me to arrange that.
My current unit has 955.631.194.00 / 5DC00928500 / 068711001952AF on it.

These units will need to be programmed by the dealer one way or another - car's VIN is written into the module and will not work on another Cayenne without reprogramming. Also, during programming, the headlight level is supposed to be adjusted, though I'm not sure if that is needed if you're only replacing the control unit and not the whole headlight assembly. If you put in a used one the headlight will turn on, but will throw a code about incorrect VIN and PDLC and cornering lights will be disabled.

Also, as others mentioned, the units on your vehicle have to be a matching set - both left and right either 00, 01, 02, or 03 (latest, only one available from the dealer) revision. If the revisions are mismatched, they will not program.

My local dealer was able to re-program my used matching revision ballast and charged me 1hr of labor.
I would be curious to know if the aftermarket units can be programmed.
