2008 Cayenne V6 diesel sound at cold start

Does this sound Like a bad timing chain tensioner? It only happens at cold start and then goes away after 5-10 seconds.

Is it a cold day, or warm but car not warmed-up?

I'm on my third Porsche, my experience has been that they all sound like garbage trucks when first started on a cold day.

Our base 2009 does not make that sound at all, at 103K miles. Don't know your mileage. There are good VR-6 forums you could research.

How many miles do you have on yours?
Our 2013 has ~74,000 with a little more 'diesel' noise but not much at all.
