Just spoke with my local dealer - they say they don't even know what parts are necessary for the recall?! Can anyone say what parts are actually going to be going into completing this recall?

I called Stevens Creek and they were pretty unhelpful. "You know as much as we do" - I bought several parts a year ago when I smelled fuel and wanted to know if they were the parts they are waiting on. No answer, no ability to give me an ETA, and since I have a service coming up in 700 miles, I said I would prefer to do one trip to do service and recall. No help.
I ended up changing the oil myself today just so I could feel like I made progress (0w-40 seems to have made my engine run better, so that's positive).

Just talked with George Demar @ Porsche Burlingame (Rector). He confirmed, no parts and no ETA.
Weird how this is playing out. Recall issued in October, maybe we'll see some of us get remedy by March/April? Maybe?

I posted this earlier in the thread, but my dealer basically said "Don't hold your breath" and this was after I mentioned that my car has the gas smell and it gets parked indoors next to my gas water heater. Sometime in 2018 (and possibly dragging into early 2019) seems to be about when it's going to happen.

BTW if it makes anyone feel better... My wife's M45 was affected by the Takata airbag recall, we got a letter from Infiniti saying basically what Porsche is saying here: parts will be swapped once available. Infiniti went one step further and said "Under no circumstances should any passenger sit in the front passenger seat until the recall work has been completed!" Obviously, for something so serious we called the dealer monthly. It was somewhere between 18 and 24 months after that letter that they finally got around to it and that was with us hounding them constantly. And when they finally did the work, they forgot to re-attach the old VIN plate to the new dashboard necessitating couple of months of additional waiting while Infiniti custom-manufactured a replacement VIN plate....

I called Porsche NA today. They said that the dealers should have the parts in hand now for this recall repair. I have not contacted the dealer yet to verify, but if Porsche NA is right, this recall may be completed sooner rather than later. -Doug

Called the dealer yesterday to get a quote on an alignment for Cayenne ($325). Since I was already on the phone, asked them if they had parts or an ETA. Service Manager laughed.
Seriously guys, a watched pot never boils, it's going to be around Christmas probably.
