Default Totaled?

Got hit this morning taking kids into school in my beloved 2003 CTT. Passenger and driver side airbags deployed. No one hurt. One car rear ended another throwing that into my side spinning me into a car in left lane. I then Went into ditch. At about 130k miles on odometer not sure if it will be totaled or not. Recs regarding determining value would be appreciated! Three of four involved have USAA including at fault driver.

Depends on what your insurers policy is on cost of repairs vs their appraised value. If you want it fixed right with Porsche parts id say start looking for a new one and kiss it goodbye.

^^^Agree^^^

I hit a deer with my 04S with 50K mi.

Impact was on the right front...no sheet metal damage. $5K and it took over a month to fix, due to difficulty sourcing Porsche parts.

Sorry to say your loss will exceed the market value. They will likely cut you a check for $12K IMO.

Very sorry to see this happen to you and glad that nobody was hurt. Your '03 is in such a clean and mint condition that it would be a crime to have the insurance company send it to the wrecking yard.

I agree with Diberto. If the deal is there, I would also buy it from the insurance company.

The first few photos I thought to myself "Oh a bit of PDR and that'll buff right out!" and then I saw the last few and my heart broke.

Hate to say it, but I think they are definitely going to total it. USAA is a pretty solid company and will probably take care of you. Also, you can buy it back for what we will collectively scrounge parts from you for, then you will have a free Cayenne. I say turn it into a radical buggy with no doors and see what size tires you can fit once you take a sawzall to the fenders and other parts. Perhaps we can find out how much a pig will weigh with a major interior and bodywork diet!

Since people are already going for it...

I call dibs on the sideview mirrors and the front belly/skid plastic!

I am wondering if the Cargraphic exhaust would fit one of the newer models?

Mounts are slightly different. Nothing a custom exhaust shop cannot do. In my case.... it's plug n' play!

Oh, that's terrible. I'm sorry to say though that unless you had it insured for Stated Value where they might take a look at the condition vs the actual blue-book value, it's going to be totaled. On these older ones once the airbags deploy you're looking at thousands for dollars in repairs for the replacement of all the airbags and all the seatbelts (even if no one was sitting in some of the seats). Once the pretensioners fire along with the airbags, they're single use. You'll also need to replace the fairly expensive pyro fuse under the driver's seat which is why the car won't restart and many of the subsystems won't work or communicate with a scanner - that's a few hundred dollars too and that doesn't yet take into account the body panel damage shown in the photos.

Feel really bad for you as it looks like a beautiful example

I'd buy a couple parking sensors from the bumpers.

That's totaled for sure. Between the rear quarter panel damage and blown bags you're practically at the replacement cost of the vehicle.

Sad to say, but an 04 CTT is only worth $10-12k now....
