DIY Replacement of Girodisc rings on 2-piece rotors
Today I finished replacing the rotor rings (discs) on my Girodisc rotors (987: 2007 Cayman S). I just wanted to say that the process was simple for a basic DIY kind of guy like me. My Girodisc rotors and hats are about 4 years old and the rotors held up very well to about 30-40 track days overall, although I definitely wore them down a tad beyond spec width. When I went to replace the rotors, I was happy about the 2-piece design that allowed me to keep the hats and replace only the rotor rings, which saved me about $800. The people at Competition Motorsports were very helpful, as were the Girodisc people. Since I hadn't seen many DIY posts showing how to replace the rings on the hats, I wrote one up on my blog, if you care to see what kinds of things I ran into.
