Default gold foil as insulation?

I figure you racing guys use this gold foil stuff the most. My car had some aluminum backed by insulating material (fiberglass?) at the bulkhead. On on side, the aluminum has come off. Could I just replace it with gold foil from cdoc?

How good an insulator is that gold foil stuff? Would it improve my A/C if I wrapped it around the suction line (I've heard using pipe insulation from home depot will, but if this stuff insulates as well or better, then it would be a more elegant solution)?

The gold foil is a reflective heat barrier, not an insulator. It is used on carbon fibre intakes, the rear bulkhead on a DP car, etc. It is not the same as the padded aluminum insulator material.

Ahhh....so, is there any aftermarket replacement for this padded aluminum insulator material?
