928 Mods
OK, who has some new performance mods that I haven't done to my 928 GT??? I'm starting to run out of ideas, short of supercharging it.

Have you tried doing traditional hot rodding techniques. Port and Polish, cam(s), engine internals? Last summer I built my S2 motor up in this manner. I had my car dyno'd at 265Hp at the flywheel or if you like 227Hp at the wheels. Not bad for a NA four. I wouldn't be surprised if you did this on a Porsche V8 the numbers would be double that of a Porsche inline four.

My 91 944S2 had a base line of 172hp @ the wheels in stock form. After several months and thousands spent I gained 55hp at the wheels. My car is fairly fast. I have tested it in the quarter mail at 14.0 secs at 102mph and 0 to 60 in 5.7 sec. I can read more about my car at www.exotichorsepower.com

Hey guys, not that my car is wickedly fast or anything (it's kind of porky compared to the weight of a 944) But the last time I dyno'd the car she put down 300 HP and 297 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels. That was quite a few dollars and mods ago, and I haven't had an opportunity to dyno it since. I'm trying to stay out of the engine internals until it becomes necessary for some other reason. At that point I will definitely port/polish the heads, although the stock GT cams seem to work better than some of the custom grinds I've seen.

Abby, if I hadn't spent so much in other areas, I'd already have a blower on it. Hindsight is 20/20!!!! As soon as I save up some more though, that'll be the next BIG mod. How well does yours perform??? Any dyno numbers?? Which brand/kit did you use, F.A.S.T./Vortec ??? Inquiring minds want to know. TIA

Hey Chris , I know what you mean. I baslined my 85S 928 and cranked out about 250 ponies "stock"! After I modified the exhaust now I am dynoing close to 290 ponies to the rear wheels. I have a few more mods to do but super charging still sounds like a winner. I just wish someone out there sold a complete kit without a Vortech Supercharger.

Hey Pat, thats some kick azz HP on an S model. Supercharger would do nicely though, huh?? I'm kind of partial to the ATI Procharger myself. Info seems good. Lower temps than a Vortec, and with the lower boost models, you don't need an external oil pressure source. It's all self contained. Just wish I had some machine equipment to fab my own brackets etc... Maybe one of these days.......
