race fuel or ??
OK, I have a hybrid type motor I just finished building. 1996 993 case with '97 varioram heads,GE 100 cams, 993 crankshaft, 12.5:1 CR, twin plug, slide valves, Autronic EFI, mild porting (43.5mm intake), headers, megaphones, race only, crank fired. Do I need to run 108 octane fuel...or mix 108 (leaded) and pump 92, equally, for 100 octane? Or is straight 108 needed?
Thanks in advance !

I run Sunoco GT-Plus 104 octane, unleaded. The compression ratio on high boost is just about 20:1 and the MoTeC does not have anti-knock capabilities. Makes more H/P than Sunoco's 113 octane leaded fuel.

Hi Howard:
IMHO, you should use the 108 octane fuel for that engine displacement and compression ratio.
The detonation threshold is dynamic and changes with cylinder head temperature.
