Post true benefit of oil scavenge kit for 996

Porsche Motorsport sells these for 996's that are run on slicks. Apparently to make up for high g's on corners/braking, etc. Is this a definite improvement package or is it one that helps with the psyche?

I don't think Porsche is too worried about your psyche. Just your engine life.

Arthur,

When you receive some positive feedback and/or pricing please post it here. I'm interested in knowing more about the wet sump oil scavenger fix as I'm close to the performance envelope on my street tires and may experiment with slicks next year.

Why would you go from street tires all the way to slicks instead of DOT R Compounds?

Excellent article/response by Bruce. I suppose if I raced my car constantly a scavenge kit would be useful. I meant to say in my original post that I run on R-compound tires, NOT slicks, which I imagine are much more sticky than R's. Since I DE twice a year on R's, and I don't drive the car like I'm ******* it, frequent oil changes might be a good option. Thank you for all the info on this!

Greg,

Thanks for posting the 996 oil pump update. For 2003 I'll be on Michelin Pilot Sport Cups so I don't think I'll have a problem with the OEM motor.

If and when the time comes I have contacts at PMNA for the ordering and who knows maybe Gert can get me the European tweaks.

Just communicated with Serota. He has over 60,000 miles on his 996 cab and has a fairly extensive suspension modification. He runs a DE school and drives his car very aggressively on and off track. He did not install the scavenge kit, and agrees with Bruce Anderson on lack of evidence that tracking a 996 causes oil starvation. Oh well. So much for THAT topic. Let's move on.........
