Post 8 Piston Calipers

Does anyone in club racing have experience with 8 piston front calipers?

ive seen the the alcon 8 piston, 4 pad (per wheel) advertised, I think you would need some supercar to justify these calipers. Arent they about $3400 each?

Cettainly they would not be inexpensive, but if you combined them with one of the three ceramic disks that should be a available by the end of the year, you might have a superior, lightweight and durable braking set up for the very high level club and professional racer.

Angry

I saw an ad for the PCCBs in Excellence.... $28,500 for the kit. All of a sudden $3400 / wheel sounds cheap! Are they THAT good?

The specs of the brake system with respect to which I am working is:

• calipers constructed of lightweight lithium aluminum

• 8 piston front calipers with titanium pistons and bleed quick disconnect -- 2 pads per side

• 4 piston rear calipers with titanium pistons and bleed quick disconnect -- 1 pad per side

• 26 mm pads

• Pagid RS-19 compound racing brake pads

• brake pads machined to accommodate brake pad wear sensors

• carbon ceramic disks – 350 mm x 34 mm front, 350 mm x 28 mm rear

• aluminum front and rear brake disk bells with titanium mounting system designed to withstand potential 800º C temperature of carbon ceramic disks

• Aeroquip aerospace braided metal front and rear brake fluid lines from calipers to chassis with Parker –3 titanium quick disconnects

• weight savings of 40 pounds to 70 pounds over conventional Porsche racing brake systems (Type 964 3.8 RSR, Type 993 3.8 RSR, Type 993 GT2, Type 996 GT3, Type 996 GT3 RS) – weight partially unsprung and rotating
