As we have done for the past few years we’re offering reduced pricing on custom refinished hood crests for the Holiday Season! Due to requests from members (and lurkers) here on Rennlist we’re repeating a special we ran a few years ago. From now until the end of the year we’re offering a brushed nickel plate crest with your choice of the following :

These are normally $199.99 however we’re cutting 25% for the holidays and offering them for $149.99 SHIPPED (in the US, overseas at actual cost) with a crest gasket and retainers!

Additionally we’re giving away a few gifts of our own to any purchaser who takes advantage of the reduced pricing and orders a crest before the end of the year.

First Prize: The price of the crest will be refunded to purchaser, essentially making their custom crest FREE!!!


Second Prize: A framed and matted replica of the purchaser’s custom crest suitable for hanging in your man cave, library or garage. The frame is 11” x 14” and features a slightly larger than stock crest replica mounted on a black carbon fiber pattern background. The PORSCHE lettering below is in metallic grey. We've been busy working on orders for "Holiday Special" pieces since we started the reduced pricing two weeks ago. The response has been great and we'd like to thank the members here who have placed orders!

In the initial post announcing the special I neglected to mention that these pieces can be based on the "old" style crests with solid PORSCHE lettering in the top banner or the newer pieces with outlined PORSCHE lettering.

In addition to the brushed nickel plate specials we've also refinished some unique custom resin filled pieces as of late. I thought I'd bump up the thread with some custom eye candy:

Polished Nickel plate with black and red resin. The customer wanted to add a red banner to match his brake calipers:



Black and white resin with Porsche "Viper Green" under clear resin. This went out to a customer in the UK. His 911 is Viper Green and the interior has black seats with white piping. The matching Porsche color has the appearance of "Viper Green under glass":



A polished nickel plate crest with red and white to compliment the new owner's GT3:



And last, but not least, a "Tiger Stripe" crest with polished nickel plate, opaque black, translucent red and translucent orange resin:

Some of you may be already aware that this is a "hobby business" for my Daughter and me. Most of the time we are able to devote to refinishing pieces is on the weekends and one or two nights during the week. We're both off from our "day jobs" through the weekend and will have a few more days available to refinish custom crests! That is...after we shake off our post-Turkey drowsiness.

Short of taping up your headlights for a race or driver education day this is the easiest reversible modification you can make to your Porsche. Most installations require only a short amount of time and a 8mm socket! And it's easily the most noticeable........T.R. in New Jersey ordered the red and white crest in this pic for his white 2015 991 GT3 with red brake calipers:



He emailed us a few weeks after he installed his custom crest: "I get more compliments on the crest than I do on my car!"

Tomorrow at midnight 2015 comes to a end and so does Holiday Special pricing on Custom Refinished Hood Crests!

We've had a great response to the reduced pricing we offered to Rennlist members during the holidays. Not only have we been busy refinishing the "Holiday Special" brushed nickel plate pieces we've also been commissioned to create some pretty spectacular custom orders.

Here's a complete set (hood crest, steering wheel crest, and four centerlock cap crests) that we shipped yesterday to a Rennlist Member in Texas:



The pieces in the matched set were refinished in "Light Stainless" Cerakote with satin black and anthracite / gunmetal grey automotive enamel. We think it looks great and can't wait to see pics of the pieces installed on our customer's Porsche!

i didn't know you make them for the steering wheel as well.
should have ordered it with the hood crest.
how much is it for the steering wheel crest (same as shown in pic)?

A steering wheel crest refinished to match is $125 shipped. The factory steering wheel crests can't be refinished as the center "shield" (the STUTTGART lettering and the Stallion) is pad printed as opposed to being die struck. The pieces I have sourced are slightly larger than the factory crest and will sit slightly above / outside the niche in the airbag cover.

The refinished piece can either be mounted through the airbag cover (as is the factory piece) or attached to the airbag cover with 3M VHB (Very High Bond) two sided tape. There are a number of threads here on Rennlist detailing removal of the airbag cover and replacement of the steering wheel crest and it appears to be a fairly simple procedure.

I can either attach a solid brass machine screw to the back of the crest with high temp silver solder (with included brass attachment hardware), install 3M VHB tape on the backside, or both. Your preference.

I anticipate that there will be a number of replies here (as in other threads) about how an adhesive mounted steering wheel crest will become a projectile in the event of an airbag deployment. I haven't tested the theory myself however 3M VHB tape is not the same 3M item you find at Auto Parts and Big Box stores. It's INCREDIBLY strong and is actually used by NASCAR and other race teams to attach body panels and spoliers etc.

The steering wheel crests recently used by Porsche (approximately 2008- present) can't be refinished as some of the detail in the piece is printed and not die struck / embossed.
