Perfectly good 996s are NOT commonly available for $10k. You can find plenty of good ones, and a FEW near $10k - but those numbers don't overlap.

That was for the engine, not the whole car. For a perfectly good 996 I would expect to pay in the $20K to low $30K range depending on year, mileage, options, condition, maintenance records, PPI, etc.
