Selling my custom trailer hitch used to pull around my tires for a solid 4 years without issue. This hitch was designed in AutoCAD, then fully welded and professionally powder coated. The hardware is grade 8 with nylon lock nuts, and the backing plate was drilled for weight savings. The front plate has provisions to use the factory tow hook and it's associated hardware. The hitch and hardware come in at a svelte 8.6 lbs.

Minor trimming of the heat shield is required for ease in putting in the hitch pin. You'll also have to enlarge a hole behind the license plate. I used a cabinet hinge to swing the plate up to access the hitch and slide in the ball receiver.
