We're celebrating the weakening grip of Winter by announcing our 2016 Spring Special. From now until the end of June we're reducing the price of a brushed or polished nickel plate refinished hood crest by $50.00!
These pieces are normally $199.99 however we're refinishing them to order for $149.99! The $149.99 price includes free shipping via First Class Mail (shipping outside the US at additional cost). If you're waking your car from a long Winter's Nap for detailing and a drive to the local PCA Event, "Cars and Coffee" or favorite twisty stretch of road there's no better (and easier) way to personalize your Porsche than adding a custom refinished hood crest!
Here's a few examples of refinished pieces in brushed and polished nickel plate:
Brushed Nickel Plate with Satin Black and Grey / Anthracite Metallic:
Brushed Nickel Plate with Satin Black:
Polished Nickel Plate with Satin Black:
"Bare" Brushed Nickel Plate:
The specials are not limited to black or black and metallic grey. We'll include two "stock" colors at the Spring Special pricing. Here's a few examples:
A brushed nickel plate crest with Navy Blue and Orange we refinished for a Gulf Blue 911:
Polished Nickel Plate with Satin Black and Orange:
If you'd like to incorporate Porsche Factory color in your crest please let us know the color name & color code when ordering. Matching factory colors are $25 (per color) however we guarantee an EXACT match! Each crest is refinished by myself and my Daughter, one at a time here in Maryland. All the crests we refinish are OEM Porsche parts and we refuse to utilize cheap knockoff pieces from Asia. Each piece is a true custom order as we don't have "in stock" pieces waiting to ship.
Modifications to the handling, performance and appearance of your Porsche are expressions of the owner's personality. Adding a custom refinished hood crest is easily accomplished at home with simple hand tools on most vehicles and is an outward sign that your Porsche is more than mere "transportation"!
If you'd like to place a custom order during the Spring Special (or have any questions / comments) please contact us through a PM here on Rennlist or via our email address: porschecrests@gmail.com.
If you're looking for ideas and inspiration we have an online album of previously refinished hood and steering wheel crests as well as wheel centers parked on photobucket here:

Cheers!

Based on questions from a few members here I should add that the price includes a crest provided by us. You do not need to send us your crest for refinishing.
That being said we do provide a core credit of $25 towards the price for a useable crest. This is the price we pay for used pieces from reputable Porsche dismantlers here in the US as well as overseas. If you would like to exercise this option please send an email to us here porschecrests@gmail.com .
Used crests with chipped, faded, or missing enamel are perfectly acceptable as are those with bent or missing mounting studs. As long as the face metal is free of gouges / dents and the crest is not grotesquely / seriously bent they are useable!

Adding this to the other threads here regarding the "Spring Special". A member on another forum had asked if we can refinish steering wheel crests to match our hood crests:
The current Porsche Factory airbag cover crest cannot be refinished. Some of the details on the crest, such as the stallion in the center shield, are printed on the metal and are erased when the piece is stripped.
That leaves two options however. One is to replace the factory piece with a reworked 356 hood handle crest. These are the same size as the current airbag crest and can be refinished. There are differences between the factory airbag piece and a 356 crest as the PORSCHE lettering in the top banner on the 356 crest is solid as opposed on the airbag piece etc.
The second option is to use a refinished keychain crest piece which is slightly larger than the airbag crest. Here's a pic of a stripped 356 crest and a stripped keychain crest side by side:
And measurements of both with a micrometer:
Because the keychain crest is larger it sits outside the niche in the airbag but does cover it. There are two ways to mount it.
The first option is mounting the new crest over the top of the airbag crest with 3M VHB tape. This isn't the average 3M two sided tape you find at a hardware or auto parts store. It's incredibly strong and NASCAR teams use it to attach spoilers and body panels etc.
The second is to remove the airbag cover and take off the factory crest. The airbag crest is secured to the cover by a rear mounting stud and a press on or thread cutting nut (I've seen both used). If this is the way you prefer to mount it we use high temp silver bearing solder to attach a new solid brass threaded stud to the backside. We also provide a solid brass washer and nut so you can secure the new piece through the factory mounting hole.
Just a FYI on 356 crests we "desolder" the unthreaded factory post and add the threaded brass when we refinish them.
If requested we'll both attach a threaded stud AND apply 3M VHB tape.
Apologies for the long winded answer but it required more than a "Yes".

Does the gold factory hood crest match the overall character or personality of your Porsche? If you've added modifications to your car the likely answer is NO! The devil is in the details and replacing the factory crest is the fastest, most easily reversible and most distinctive statement piece you can add to your car. Take the opportunity to save $50.00 during the "Spring Special" and place a custom order for a refinished brushed or polished nickel plate hood crest.
My daughter and I are actively refinishing pieces for fellow Porsche owners and enthusiasts. We invite you to view our online album of previously refinished pieces here:

The current stock Porsche factory 3 inch concave wheel centers don't allow for much personalization. The problem is that the crest on the caps is a stamped "metal decal" that can't be refinished. We've had a number of owners asking for a solution to this over the past few years and consequently
we've been working on a solution. Here's our answer.....
This is a set of factory wheel centers we completed this past week and shipped off to another happy Porsche owner. We filled the stock 3" caps level and covered the surface with Titanium colored 3M Scotchcal film. We mounted refinished brushed nickel plate and satin black keychain crests with solid brass hardware through the caps and we think they turned out great!
Here's a few pics of the custom piece next to the factory cap:
We'll post more pics of these pieces shortly in a separate thread. However if you're looking for a complete set of refinished hood and wheel center caps for your late model Porsche we finally have the solution!

Your Porsche doesn't have to be fresh from the showroom floor to benefit from refinished hood, steering wheel or wheel center crests. Whether you own a 1950's 356 or a brand new GT3 modifications to the performance and appearance of your prized Porsche is an expression of you and your Porsches personality.
A great example is one of our customer's current restoration projects. Per his request we refinished a factory crest in a "low polish" nickel plate with satin black and anthracite metallic accents for his 80's vinatge 911. We think it works well with his car's overall color scheme and serves subtle notice that this is no "ordinary" Porsche! Thanks for the pics Owen!

Have a Porsche with Center Lock Wheels? We do have a custom crest option for you!
The cover on the factory center lock cap is simply a stamped metal "decal / sticker" and can't be refinished. These pics show the construction of the factory cap:
Over the past few years we've refinished sets of center lock caps for numerous customers. We can either refinish the "older style" 356 hood handle crests (with solid PORSCHE lettering) or slightly larger "newer style" pieces (with outlined PORSCHE lettering).
A few sets of center lock caps with refinished "old style" crests:
And a complete set of refinished "newer style" crests (hood, steering and center lock cap crests):
We install solid brass threaded studs to these pieces with high temp silver bearing solder and attach (and seal) them to the caps with RTV silicone adhesive and solid brass hardware!
Please have a look at our online album of previously refinished pieces parked on photobucket.com here:

Here's a custom piece we recently completed and shipped off to Sean B. for his 911. His Porsche is Weissach Platinum Metallic with Amazon Green Metallic accents. Working with Sean we combined those colors on a "low polish" nickel plate crest and added semi flat black for good measure.
The result is a unique custom piece that's sure to draw both attention and comments from fellow Porsche owners and enthusiasts!
