Took my 2010 in to service a "chassis failure" signal and was informed that Panameras with aluminum cam adjuster fasteners are being recalled. The recall , AH08, was not ready to be implemented because parts weren't available. the problem, as explained to me, was the possibility of the engine suddenly stalling. I believe the problem is even more severe as I understand the engine design is an interference type.

Don t know how new that is. There are several posts about totaled engines due to this issue on this and other sites.

The main point is/was that there will be a recall...........If this is not news, please point out where the recall was instituted because I've never seen it.

I wonder if Porsche will reimburse those who paid out-of-pocket for the repairs? Some were quite extensive.

This is good to hear for someone like me who is nearing the final stages of purchasing a Cayenne S 2012.. the carfax shows this was replaced at the Porsche service center prior to selling so this is something worth noting for someone like me

So I wonder what people like me who don't have a dealer in the state, do. I don't guess Porsche would transport my car to/from the dealer to perform the recall work?

I've replaced several sets of these. Damage to the engine varies case by case. when these come in we usually check cylinder leakage and compression to verify no cylinder head damaged (which is a good possibility) and check cylinder bores. After that we go hunting for the broken timing adjuster bolts and bolt heads. Then install updated adjusters. We don't have much information yet other than there will be a campaign for the adjusters. Still no parts available. I can keep you guys updated if you like.

Just purchased a 2011 Cayenne Turbo with 156K, the engine was replaced at 125K for camshaft bolt failure, last owner paid the labor Porsche covered the engine.
