2017 Panamera 4S, sluggish?
I test drove one last week. I did like the car it but are the 0-60 figures really accurate? Porsche says it's 4.2 seconds, but it did not feel like it.
It felt slower than my '15 range rover v8 supercharged driving around town, which feels very quick. I do nearly all of my driving in an urban area, so I like pickup. Does the car need to be broken in to loosen up? Or is that normal?
Guess I'd need to go with the Turbo for torque/power..

Did you drive it in "sport" or "sport+" mode? That would change the throttle mapping for increased responsiveness. The default normal mode is optimized for fuel economy.

Think the salesman only switched it to sport while I cut some corners..drove it in default otherwise. Did not know it had an effect on the throttle response.

You must have not had it in sport.
My wife's 2017 base car feels crazy quick, better than the stated 5.2 seconds.
And my daily is a 2016 carrera 4s that is much faster, but doesn't always feel faster.
I was just saying today that I bet the 4s is amazing, let alone the turbo.

Interesting chrisstiann. Your observation reminded me of a C&D article I read a while back and they thought the same.
"Our experience with the 4S was limited in time and distance, amounting to an anticlimactic slow lap in traffic around Tegernsee, the touristy German lake and town near the Austrian border. Does the boosted engine really not feel as full as the claimed 440 horsepower and 405 lb-ft of torque? Or was it merely the aggravation of not being able to uncork all that potential that left us wanting more? We’ll have to wait for a second opportunity before rendering judgment."

I personally have a 16 PGTS and don't have to put it in "sport" mode for it to feel quick..

My 2017 P4 can feel a tad sluggish in Normal/Economy mode. The throttle response in Sport is a lot better, and more spirited still in Sport Plus. In fact in Sport Plus mode, my Panamera 4 feels nearly as sporty and responsive as my previous car - a 991.1 C2. :-)

I feel like with the way the transmission is geared and setup, it wants you to drive it hard. If I tried to drive it slow, the car has major turbo lag especially up a hill. If you downshift one or two gears, the car comes alive and becomes angry

I had test drives in the Turbo and the 4S. On roads I could open up the car. I felt a turbo lag in the Turbo not the 4S. And I felt the 4S was as quick as the Turbo although I did not time it so saved the dosh and went for the 4S. I have only done 300 miles in mine so far so waiting to open her up after 1000, but don't feel any sluggishness even now compared to my previous Macan Turbo
