Sounds very nice. I've also got a June Build date. Hoping that won't slip since I've read some have slipped from May to June already.

Also 4 zone climate. Don't really care for it but you get that cool display in the back
Same as mine except that I have the 21" Turbo wheels. I just got it delivered this week. I also got the 4 zone climate control because of the cool screen even though it won't get used much.

Me too! But my wife does ride in the back seat when we go out with another couple in my Lexus LS so it will get used.

I have reservations all over Europe for a BMW ED on Sept. 1. If I wanted to consider a Panamera instead what are the chances of my having a 4S ready for pick up in Stuttgart on exactly Sept. 1? Slim or none?

I ordered my 4s on Apr 15th and got a mid August delivery date in the US. If you ordered one right now I think Sep 1 is very doable as there would be no shipping time needed.

You'd be picking up in Leipzig... not Stuttgart- Zuffenhausen is closed to ED for a while.

Hopefully there are good transit options between Munich and Leipzig.

The good news is you can order it from any dealer regardless of their location since you are picking it up at the factory. The bad news is you will have to act fast as I believe the factory closes down in August so you will need a June or July build date.

The key, as I alluded to, is getting the exact date of Sept. 1 as opposed to changing plane and places to stay reservations all over Europe. I suppose I can just give a dealer the straight scoop with the BMW plans and see if they are interested in me changing it or not.

As someone mentioned, you can look around various dealers to see who has an allocation. Price is not going to drop very much from msrp, so no big deal who you go with. But with ED, there are some dealers that like to do it and others who don't. Don't go with a dealer that doesn't like to do ED and begrudgingly says ok. Communication between you, the dealer, PCNA and the mothership is critical, and if you have one unwilling dance partner all kinds of things can go FUBAR.

They have pretty speedy ICE trains from Munich to Lepzig, or you can do a car rental with a 1-way drop but I think the former is probably cheaper unless you have a large traveling party.

So you have all your flight and hotel reservations locked in this far in advance? I travel for leisure and biz a moderate amount. While I like the safety of having everything booked and save a couple bucks taking advantage of some early booking deals, I also like some flexibility where the circumstance allows.

Do you not want to change them because it's a pain in the rear to do it? or are we talking about non-refundable/penalty fees?

We did a BMW ED in 2014 and know the process goes smoother with BMW. Our salesman even billed himself as a ED specialist and he was - all went like clockwork through email, phone, fax and FedEx.

The wife has a great Delta Skymiles points flight already booked - would be a shame to lose that deal. Already have a nice lake front room on Lake Como booked and a great B&B in Florence near a restaurant in Tuscany to die for, and a return to Nice on the French Riveria. So yes it can all be changed but the new BMW 5 series is a mighty nice car also so not willing to give up too much for the step up to the Panamera.

Gotcha! Sounds like an amazing itinerary. You'll probably come to the conclusion that you're too far along the process to change this drastically, and probably don't want to anyways. Square peg, meet round hole. Besides, Northern Italy and the French Riviera is not a small detour from Leipzig as compared to Munich. Not huge, but it'll eat a day... maybe a day and 1/2. Shame because Stuttgart would've been the best option for your itinerary.

But no harm in speculating.

Yes another nice thing about BMW ED - 12 different drop off points, including Nice.
