Default New Model Deal Breaker

Just left the dealer checking out the new Panamera....

So now u cannot permanently turn off auto start/stop...u have to do it everytime u start the car! How stupid is that?

Sales say all new P cars are like that...is this a new regulation I'm unaware of?

That is the way it has been for a while - it is maddening.
I currently have an S65 - and I have a 621 horsepower, hand built V12 that has an auto stop/start

Gee it's frustrating the hell outta me in my 16 PGTS. I keep meaning to look in the manual to figure out how to turn it off permanently but sounds like it can't be done..bummer

Auto start/stop does not function when Sport and Sport Plus mode is active.

Mercedes is that way, just takes a click of a button to stop it.

True and if I'm not paying attention, I sometimes don't notice it in my S550. It's pretty much a fast sofa anyhow, so I leave it on most of the time. It's not that annoying to me in a sedan.
I wouldn't call it a deal breaker on any car I like. Never had any interest in the Panamera until I saw the pics of the Sport Turismo. I may look at one in a few years when my Benz is almost out of warranty if they are still making them (and if I can get out of the back seat without doing gymnastics - my friends aren't in their 20s).

I always turn my recent P-Cars to Sport or Sport+, to disable the auto stop cycle. It is my SOP, sit down, close door, do up seatbelt, start car/SUV, turn on Sport mode, or Sport+ mode. A wee-bit of a PITA but if you make it a routine its no big deal. But I do wish you could set the start-up mode you wanted. My guess is it is a regulations or EPA thing. Interesting, my 2013 981 Box-S (6-MT) does remember the setting, but the 2015 Cayenne-S (Tiptronic) and my 2017 991.2 TTS (PDK) always defaults to auto stop.

Auto start/stop does not bother me in the least on my 2016 PGTS. If it bothers drivers, just turn it off or always run in sport or sport plus. The start/stop function works quite well and is unobtrusive. I believe that it is Federally mandated for all 2016 and newer cars.

I suppose a good business would be selling replacement starters.

I just wish it would leave itself in invdividual mode, what is so hard about that?
is it an EPA thing, ?

For all - on 2017 cars - all you have to do is go to individual setting (assuming you have sports chrono package) and check the box to turn off the auto start. That gives you comfort settings and no stop/start

I have programmed the 'diamond button' on my steering wheel to turn off the auto stop/start. Takes milliseconds. :-)
