I will never be a fan of hybrids. I'd much rather see a pure electric Panamera.

Pure electrics just don't make sense, not given the limitations of current battery power densities (compared to gasoline).
For now, the most efficient car we could build would be a diesel plug in hybrid.

I am sticking with gasoline/piston engines till I die........ Old enough that I'll be gone by the time these things become mainstream :-)

It already exists. It's called Tesla Model S. It's designed as an electric car from the ground-up - not a converted gasoline powered car with all the compromises that would bring.

..but 22miles. This price bracket needs more electric range. OTOH, patterned use and a reliable "downtown" charger could make a difference. Whatever, it seems half-way. May as well save $5k and just get the P-hybrid, or closer to 300 miles with the Tesla.

After all the mags wrote about the 918, this month, its clear Porsche is focused more on the kinetics (KERS), and the 250+ amps they're getting out of that relatively small battery. I hope they race and win on fuel, but don't really see a consumer formula here.
