Panamera 4 advice

I'm new to this forum and I would appreciate any advice.

I was in love with this car the first time I saw the pics but was never able to afford it....until now? I took my first test-drive today and it was great despite the icy roads!

2011 Panamera 4, black on black, heated seats and wheel, Bose, 19" wheels, sports chrono....everything that I think I "need".

The car that I drove is a dealer demo. It has 9k miles on it though they classify it as "new" because there has been no previous owner. It is certified for 100k mile warranty. How much of a discount from the MSRP should I expect? I was surprised that they offered me less than 5% off MSRP with their first offer.

Hard Bargain

My opinion (and we know about them!!)

Take 9% off to get to original dealer cost.

Then I would take off another 10% for the mileage.

Ensure you get the Porsche certified 6 year / 100,000 warranty.

Settle for no less.

Cheers, JohnnyB

You can get a much better deal than that. These cars aren't exactly flying off dealer lots..

Thanks. While I don't think that they will go for 19% as you suggest....I suppose that it couldn't hurt to ask. I have some time to drive the deal down and I agree that these cars are not flying off the lot.

There is only one dealership in RI, so it's tough to shop around. Unfortunately I'm sure that they can tell that I love the car by the permagrin I had on during and after the test drive.

I have been patient....and the dealer has offered an unsolicited "discount". I am getting close to pulling the trigger!

The 6 year/100k warranty is included.

Mike Fernadez in Boston?????

i would tell them 20%.. like take msrp *.8 and tell them "this is what i will pay" (price not the %) and then try and be firm since it was a dealer demo they usually get like a 5k or more incentive from PCNA when they sell.. plus its used... it might be CPO but its still used.

15-18% would be the minimum discount i would accept, i mean you could order a brand new one exactly how you want it for 8-9% off any day of the week, why would you "settle" with a used car that someone else ordered for 5%?

scosurf 02-18-2011 10:26 PM

all good points, they have not exactly had long lines there!

Thanks for the advice.

Scosurf- I called your friend in Boston. He told me he could "crush" the original deal. I will have to call him again. The only problem is that he doesn't have the model/color that I want on the lot.....and the fact that it is a demo puts it in my price range.

The internet is your friend porsche.com and search dealers in U,S. Have fun looking

just my .02....

I was offered a highly optioned Pan, not 4 for 9% off sticker. msrp was 87k. Oh, and it had 100 mikes, new not demo.

Good luck with your find.

Porsche dealer mark up 13-14%. Back in recession days I was able to get 11% off MSRP.

As a repeat VIP customer, my dealer usually offers me ~$5 - 6K off MSRP, as a general guideline. I've been offered more at times, it all depends upon timing of your purchase and how eager they are to have you as a new customer.
