Default 970.2 Panamera S Front Air Suspension/Shock Staying Low

Hello All,

I have 2015 Panamera S and got his warning message yesterday - "Extreme level Wait unit ready for operation Engine must run":

The rears are fine but both front left and right are staying very low. I played a bit to get it raised but it would slowly lose air...

I have searched the forum and find many threads including DIY and info and etc. but although I can perform small repairs by myself, I would not try to replace the socks by myself. And more importantly, I am not so sure if it is the shock(s) since both left and right would lose air at the same time...

I am located in Los Gatos, California and I called my trusty Indy shop but they told me that they do not work on air suspension and suggested me to go to the dealer - I made an appointment already for next Friday but... I wonder if there is any other indy show nearby anyone on the forum can recommend for this issue....

Since the fronts are "extremely" low, I will not drive it until either find a trusty indy show nearby who can work on air suspension or next Friday when I take it to the dealer but...

If any one in the Bay Area know of or done air suspension work at an indy shop that they can recommend, please let me know.

TIA

Sounds like you have air leaks on the front side, either on the air shocks or the valve block.

I am guessing that it maybe the valve block since each shock seems to have its dedicated line and having both fronts to act the same way/height makes me think that it is not the shocks.. but.. I am only guessing...

This is why I need someone who knows about the PASM to diagnose and repair... preferably someone other than the dealer...

There's gotta be someone in the Bay Area who can do this.. let me know if anyone has any recommendation... in the meantime, I am doing more searching and calling...

If both are down at the same time I would fully expect it to be the valve block. It's not impossible that they both would start leaking but highly unlikely at the same time. If it was me I would start there, at least it's not super expensive to replace.

You need to find a shop that specializes in European vehicles, or only work on foreign cars. They would be able to help you.

it’s also not a bad idea to get it diagnosed by the dealer and see what the exact problem and cost would be.

@snzuloz & @Wilassasin , thank you both for the comment. I searched and called around and found a reputable European/Porsche specialist locally and dropped off the car for diagnostics. Bruce at the shop gave me a few possible causes and they all matched with what I found online. They said that would be able to look at the car today so I am waiting for their findings and estimate... Thanks again.

https://rebuildmastertech.com/

use them. $300 per side. May as well do both. Order them up Sean’s yours in and have a nice shop swap them out. It’s not hard to do but it’s time consuming

Check the fuse. The same thing happened on my Macan where the front was not inflating and the rear was fine. It turned out that the 40amp fuse was blown.

I'm in Los Gatos CA as well .. you may want to check for possible air leaks around the shock top hats, and valve block area.
Check the fuses as well.

Or else be prepared to set aside $12k for front replacements from the dealership $8-9k for a pair of aftermarket air shocks.

Or you can do what I did $1-2k coilover conversion.

Thank you for the comments.

@mrkim , the earliest appointment at the dealership was 2-weeks out so I ended up dropping off to the "*Racing" shop in the Los Gatos. They told me that the driver side shock has a leak from the "top of the shock where the air line connects to"... They recommended using the Genuine Porsche parts which need to be special ordered... Later they reached out to me saying that they can get the OEM parts next day so I went with the OEM parts which they will honor the same warranty on both parts and labor... It will cost me between $6,500 and $7,000 including alignment..

I should get the car back either this Friday or on Monday.... I will post the result.
