Trans doesn't shift automatically
 

Hello all, proud to finally be a member of the Porsche family. Just got my first Porsche. It is a 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid, Clean title with 69k miles, beautiful metallic brown paint. Very impressive car in person. I had a question if you guys could help me out. I got the car as a trade and am very happy however it has a weird problem. The car does not shift automatically and yes before you ask I tried putting the gear lever in manual mode and back to auto to fix it but it doesn't do anything. It downshift automatically when slowing down, I have to manually shift every gear but another strang thing is that when the car is in E-mode it shifts perfectly without any intervention.. the previous owner said the car had been sitting for a few months and needed a jump start as the battery was dead. I figured it needed a new battery so I bought a new one and still same problem and the check engine light is on as well. When I went to the shop to get it diagnosed with OBD scanner, clerk said there was no code at all for the check engine light. I tried searching all the forums however I didn't find anyone with this problem. I also noticed that this car had the hybrid battery replaced in 2022 for around $30k under last year of warranty so that was great news...Sorry for the lengthy question. I just can't enjoy the car shifting every single gear all the time. My last car was a manual trans and I really don't want to shift gears anymore lol. Thanks in advance.

You need a bidirectional scanner to read the module faults. A regular OBDII scanner just looks for the standard codes and wont help here. Cheaper ones are made by Autel, Topdon, Icarsoft etc. You could also get a clone PIWIS 3 which is what I have. Without that all anyone can do is guess. Could need a relearn, a sensor or a new PDK.

Which Autel model do you recommend? Investing in a car scanner soon.
I saw ICarSoft's POR but are they only for porsche vehicles? I would prefer to get a scanner that works on all cars since we have a bunch of cars as well.

Autel's MX808S is very popular and can be used on all makes. I heard good things about TopDon as well. I bought an ICar but sent it back without opening because I ended up getting a cloned PIWIS 3 from someone here so I could code as well. If you are a serious DIYer I would consider the Autel for sure.
