How can you know if your Piwis version has "full development" mode?

System--Diagnostic configuration for xxx, xxx Mode--Operating Mode: if you have drop down selection like on the picture and you have E option, your piwis is having Developmen Mode active.

It’s not clear to me what, if anything, you can actually DO in developer mode. I can’t speak for the Panamera but, in the 911.1, developer mode allowed for some experimentation (if you had activation codes) but everything in the 991.2 (PIWIS 3) version (2017 & forward) requires online activation. What have people successfully programmed on newer models?? Best I can tell you can only use this for maintenance stuff.

The development mode is only in German, it is intended for factory engineers. This mode is not available in other languages

I have got my VMware image working and a clone VAS6154 v1.6.4.1, but I cannot make them talk to each other, The tester app gets stuck on PDUMODULECONNECT. The Allscanner application can connect to the 6154 fine. Has anyone got any ideas?
EDIT: I have set the date to 2020 and the license appears as valid in the Allscanner app. Thanks for any help!

I'm waiting to receive my VAS6154 v1.6.4.1 too, and don't know what to do when it arrives and when the time comes to try to pair it up. Surely the Piwis and Windows VM should not be connected to the internet, and date/time has to be set back to 2020(?)

on VMware, I have not yet met a single version that works well, those that are on MHHauto, half-working, they only break cars

Interesting! Hopefully one of us can figure it out! I got my module from an aliexpress seller. I have set the date back to 2020 and used the steps here to configure the VM to not update the time: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1189 . This seems to work. I am going to write a little batch file to set the date to 2020 on startup but not got that far yet.

Some of the vendors on the list I made sell the laptop with 2 versions of Piwis III and it comes with one VCI, so I suppose running 2 different versions(for whatever reasons) is possible-

As I understand it (so take this with a grain of salt), 38.2 is the sweet spot version for coding on older cars. Anything newer is great for getting the latest firmware for your car/parts (but has reduced coding capabilities). So, having a dual-boot 38.2/40.0 today would likely be attractive to some folks.

I'm hurt that you don't feel you've met me. My VM works fine for coding on my 2019 Cayenne and 2021 Macan.
