Received my new PIWIS III

I think that I’ll go with something along these lines: https://amzn.to/3X9a9yf
They appear to meet the requirements to keep the power flowing. I’ll also check with my local German Haus’o’Cars to see what they use.
So, is there a thread about Panamera coding and diagnostics available?

I guess you didn't understand. You do NOT want a charger, you want a power supply like https://powermaxconverters.com/
Perhaps you can look in the Panamera forum...

You need a something like PowerMax not a jackery battery charger/maintainer.
The one you reference above is overkill, we're not providing power to a house during blackouts and btw it's not available at the moment. Plenty of discussion on appropriate external power sources when using or coding whether with PIWIS or other.

I was refuting the claim that a battery pack was insufficient. A TYPICAL battery pack (such as the 293Wh Jackery linked) is insufficient - a large battery pack will work fine, as I showed.
Electricity is electricity. If you have a source that can provide 14V at 75A (CONTINUOUS), it will work. (OK, if it's a trash waveform maybe not adviseable, but a 100AH lead acid battery is a GREAT smoother.)
It doesn't matter it has a label on it that says
PowerMax,
or Jackery,
or Solar Generator,
or RV power supply,
or bench power supply,
or laboratory function generator,
or a solar array,
or a pile of lead-acid or Li-Ion or LiFePo4 batteries,
or even if the sticker on the side says "Pile of Dog Poop".
If the widget makes 14VDC and 75A continuous, it can be used for coding.

Take note of the CONTINUOUS ratings of those units before you buy anything.
Many battery chargers are sold with a big "50A!!!" sticker on them, but you will find the 50A mode is only for low duty-cycle like start assist.
You need a power supply that can do 50A or preferable 75A continuous.
14V 75A is 1kW. That's a lot of power.
If you put that "50A!!!" battery charger on and make it try to do 50A continuous it will quickly overheat and shutdown (if it has good protection) or it will quickly overheat and fail permanently. I've seen both many times.

It's called an example. I wasn't telling anyone that they need to buy a $3000 battery bank (aka "solar generator") for coding.

I think the OP has enough info to make his own decisions no need to hammer this to death. Moving on

Can PIWIS do rudimentary data logging? Say at minimum 10Hz? (live data that refreshes 1/sec is not useful for me)
I'm most familiar with Toyota Techstream OEM diagnostic software, and it can log live data.
I want to log boost levels data (or MAP, whatever) trying to diagnose a possible boost leak issue.
Can PIWIS do this?

Porsche Factory Service manual repeatedly states throughput the book to connect a steady power supply of 40 Amps for the 997 era cars. The newer vehicles with so many more modules require 75 Amps and even more.
Reminds me of the owners and indy shops who ignore the specific instructions to only loosen and tighten center locks in their wheels with the car raised off the ground, or do serious damage. Clowns think its ok to "crack them loose" with the car on the ground 🤦♂️
Coding and programming with a trickle charger is very dangerous. The BMW guys have been doing it a long time pefore Porsche owners, go on their forums and you can see they were already using 100 Amp supply units over 10 yers ago

Fully agree. Until they come up with an F1 method of changing tires this is just a major headache for bling. As to folks who like me change tires twice a year if not more due to punctures... not practical or useful.
BTW, there are torque wrenches made for these CL set-ups ranging from $4K to 5K, plus all the grease shmear you have to go through. Great doing that by the side of the road or hoping your neighborhood tow guy will have the savvy if you have a flat.

I received my adapter. Most of my options are greyed out. Maybe a registration error (probably). It says document updates necessary in the bottom right as well. I have never entered any registration in the software. I think that is what I am missing unless it was supposed to be setup in the image. In that case I am not sure why it would look like it does.
