Racechip Panamera 971

Has anyone noticed that racechip has updated their site for all the 971 models normal and ST... and the power increase numbers have changed as well. Wondering if I should just take the leap and give it a shot.

Im thinking about pulling the trigger for my 971 Turbo as well!!

Thanks for the heads up! Yep, I’ll be picking one up for my 4S.

RaceChip, like other tuners, is very explicit about the dyno results from their products. But there is little or no information about exactly what they do and how they get there. For instance, do they enrichen or lean fuel mixture? Change ignition timing? Add boost, to which level? How is boost added? Are all changes made to "open loop"; or are there changes made also to "closed loop."

I have a similar harness that I purchased from 1016 Industries several months ago and installed on my 2018 turbo. They were claiming about 130hp on 93 octane, It definitely makes the car more aggressive. Anyway I have since removed it in preparation for sale/trade so if someone is interested PM me and we can discuss. It was quite a bit more expensive than the Race Chip version - I have the original box and manuals - it was professionally installed and uninstalled and only on car for a couple months

Anyone figured out if RaceChip can work with the 4.0l GTS engine (473hp)?

No, they do not, this one works for 460HP, the updated version is N.A so far, but easy install. Dyno attached.

I've had a RaceChip on my '17 Turbo for about 5k miles. No doubt there is a substantial power increase, but I have not measured same on a dyno. Gas mileage is also better. I am always above 31 mpg now on my 40 mi. Interstate test drive between Salem and Portland. Recently drove Interstates from Seattle to Portland - 240+ measured miles. 30.3 mpg with average speed of 69 mph.
RaceChip is somewhat secretive on exactly what it does. I think it modifies exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) somewhat. Upon cold start I was getting a check engine light indicating weak EGR. I would reset and check engine light would stay off. This went on for a while; and then ceases. I speculate that RaceChip changes fuel mixture on wide open throttle (open loop).

This is interesting, btw. So, if I am reading this correctly, the Porsche-advertised 460PS GTS engine (the pre 2021 model, the new GTS model advertised output is 480PS) actually outputs ~478PS on a dyno, stock, ie 18PS more than advertised by Porsche. The PowerControl tune then takes it to 516PS, so the actual gain is 516-478[actual] = 38PS, rather than the advertised 56PS. Begs the question where does the 56PS estimated gain come from - is it including in it Porsche's own underrating (516-460[Porsche-advertised] = 56)?

Not trying to diminish the achievement - kudos to the DTE systems guys for doing this, but just want to be realistic in my expectations for any possible gains out of a piggyback to the 480PS car I am getting this fall..

There are engine dynos and chassis dynos (sic). Manufacturers always rate hp on the basis of an engine-stand dyno. Usually, aftermarket chassis dynos, Dynojet or Mustang, read about 18-20% less than an engine stand dyno due to driveline loss. So, when you say PowerControl gets 478 hp on a dyno, it is probably a chassis dyno. Same motor on a engine stand dyno would read a lot more. Do the "dyno to dyno comparison" - If PowerContol claims a hp increase from 478 to 516, then the increase is actually 38 hp.
