New Panamera Owner - essential mods
Hi guys - bought my first four door car ! 9 month old daughter - felt like it was about time. long time 911 guy - rennlist user - based in Manhattan
Bought a 2014 PTT black/cognac 30k miles CPO I’ve been digging around for essential mods for turbos. I plan to: - tune Ecu, ideally via obd & reversibly - paint or replace wheels (but stay on 20s). Something that looks like Porsche puts on one of their vehicles would be ideal. I kinda like the one shown on the ST showcar In he attached pic if anyone knows what those are. - mod or upgrade exhaust for more bark. I did the old pse mod on my old 996 (which i still have!) and loved it. Prefer to keep this low $$$ and avoid CELs anyway looking forward to hanging with you guys and contributing to the community! https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...683582aab.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...a7e75543e.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...faf776490.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...cd38e68f8.jpeg Anyone know if these wheels or similar can be ordered? |
Congrats. Love the cognac interior on our cars.
I recommend either Sprint Booster or Pedal Commander. No extra HP but will dramatically improve throttle response due to the turbo lag. Possibly the cheapest mod at $300 with immediate ROI. |
The Sport Turismo in the pic is a 2012 model concept. Those wheels look like 911 turbo wheels modified. Probably concept wheels as well.

Thanks guys!
re sprint booster etc I’ve played with those on 911 turbos. I don’t know if it’s just me but I have a pretty heavy right foot and didn’t notice a huge difference. I did love how cheaply some guys were making big power from Cobb and giac tunes - but I imagine the tech and the players have grown a lot in the past 10 years - any other tuning recommendations? re the wheels thank you - I’m leaning toward painting these or going with the old turbo ii wheels. Any other favorites? |
For me, the easy mods were the intake filter ($300), an IPD plenum ($700) and an ECU reflash ($2,000). That really woke up the car.
For the external mods, I really wanted to keep the stock looks of the vehicle so I picked up a couple of sets of black Turbo II wheels. One set for the track and one set for daily. The original Turbo II wheels have all seasons and I use them for winter duties. I hunted around for a bit and picked up one set for $1200 and the other for $1800. Went with Michelin 4S, OEM size for daily and slightly wider, but shorter, for the track days. |

Who did you use for your ECU reflash? Do you have any pics of your car on the black turbo II wheels? |
I used EVOMS for the tune. It came with an ODB flash unit, as well. So far, has worked out pretty nicely. Went from 116 MPH traps in the quarter to about 124. So, a good solid 8 MPH improvement with the tune, IPD and air filter.
Here is a test run. DA was a high this day in the heat so MPH is a bit down. And, a pic of the car with the wheels. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...18d6ff53f.jpeg |
Nice grab! Love that interior color. Excited to see what you end up doing with her

Just curious was your 116MPH run on 91 octane?
