Default 20K brake replacement OK?

Looking at buying a 2016 GTS. It had front brakes replaced at 20K and rears at 30. Sounds like track or other aggressive use to me. Could this be just normal use?

The rear is consistent with my experience. Were the rotors replaced on the front? If the car was tracked a bit I wouldn’t expect the rears to last 30k since the inside brakes relative to the corner are applied to help steer. They get a lot of wear but I guess it would also depend on the track.

Dealer did pads/rotors on front at 20. Just seems early for street driving. Would a PPI detect track use?

You're most likely to see the effects of heavy track use on the suspension components. What do the bushings and control arms look like?

My 2010 4s is approaching 60,000 miles on the original brakes, lots of highway driving helps I guess !

Bought mine last year with 25K as a CPO and brakes were not replaced - they showed 8mm which is about 75%. Probably a lot of highway driving. I would bet on a CPO if it gets below 60% or so they would have to replace them. My last car I drove 60K miles and barely used up much of the pad - 2003 M5. Some drivers are much harder on brakes than others. I wouldn't worry about that too much.. Most likely front upper control arm bushings will also be starting to wear out - mine were noisy by 30K.

I had a little rotor warping at 20k and your car may have had a similar experience and may have been the reason for the brake job. Had the same problem on a Panny 4 but those had smaller brakes so might be I’m hard on brakes.
