Can you charge through the cigarette lighter port or just onto the remote battery terminals?
I see Porsche's Model 958 044 901 71 is like $200 - Is it necessary?

I have the CTEK MUS 4.3. It connects to the battery terminals and it works great. Even reconditioned a neglected battery on one of my cars. The newer version is MXS 5.0 for $66 at Amazon.

Griots garage unit works well. Has adapter for cigarette lighter or terminals. I use it on all my cars now.

many believe that the Porsche charger is made by CTEK

If you're looking for a battery maintainer, try CTEK. It's what I use. It's important when shopping to specify charger or maintainer. They do tend to be different.

Weird, I looked at CTEK web site and can't find any "maintainers" only chargers?

Beats me. IMO, you'll arrive where you wish as long as its a CTEK, though. Looks like I may have tossed you a foul ball unintentionally.
