'18 CPO purchase/advice, Panamera 4
 

Hello Everyone,

Need some info on Panamera 4 vs 911 S.
I will be waiting for 992 GT3/RS but for mean time I would like to jump into Porsche. Build some relationship with PFS and local Porsche retailer.
I have driven 991.1 and 991.2 base and S models. But for some reason in regard to 911s I prefer minimum of GT3/RS :)

Anyway, I am thinking of Panamera 4, 15K miles, CPO and asking high $70K. Pros/Cons/Info/Advice/Suggestions/Etc.
OR should I choose 911 base/T/S.

On serious note I only have $80K to spend. I am not able to find any 2018/2019 911s under $80K.
991.2 GT3RS are +/- $200K. I am waiting for them to drop close to $150kish in order to buy it.

We had two 911’s and now have the Pannie. We both find it enjoyable that we can have a car which is responsive, handles well and has plenty of room. It’s a nice combo between sporty and practical. We’re headed out for a trip soon and am looking forward to being able to carry whatever we wish.

Also, and this is subjective, I find the interior the best I’ve ever seen. It’s terrifically well designed. People get all hot on the exterior but we LIVE in the interior. Heck, I like the exterior too.

Anything I should look for in 2018s? Any red flags? Carmax is clean.

If you have $80K to spend, how are you going to buy a $150K car?

anyway - decide if you want a sedan or sports car first, then proceed accordingly. Very different cars. Seems to me you want a 911 - so get the best one you can for $80K. There was just a 997 Turbo on BaT that sold for $70K. And there are plenty of nice 991.1 S for that price. Do you really want or need a GT3? Is this as a daily driver or weekend car? Road trips or windy mountain roads and to the track? GT3 is stiffly sprung - really a track car that is street legal - do you really want that as your main car? Are you keeping the S3 and the M4 or selling one or both??

$80K is my budget at this moment. I pay cash for toys. So waiting to save up to 150K within 1 year :)
I want a sport car. And I do love 911s.
True, there are many 991.1 S but I was hoping for 991.2 models. Its updated and will have warranty.

GT3RS is my dream car, weekend car, fun car, etc. I will be keeping 991.2 GT3RS until 992 GT3RS.
I really like 911 Turbo but once you try out RS maaan its a different league and addictive :)

I will be selling M4. My DD is S3.

How are you going to use the Pano? Do you need the extra room? We have a 17 Pano the wife's daily driver and long, long road trip car. Has PDK issues but CPO will take care of it.. Won't buy another one. In my opinion the 911.1/.2 will hold value much better than the Pano. We have had every 911 iteration from 996 to 991.1. Really like our 18 Cayman GTS. If you want a sports car buy a sports car.

I have never driven a 911 (though my dad let me take his for a spin around the block once about 20 years ago), so I can't comment there. Having just bought a 2018 base Pannie with 19000 miles on it, I can say the interior is nice, and it's a smooth driving car, but it's weight is always going to keep if from dominating on the track, even in Turbo trim; would that GT racing evolved a 4 door/sedan subclass so we can get a Panamera GT, but that would be heresy even if there was such a thing.

I have both a 18 pano4 and a 991.2s... much different cars... 991 is much more raw and nimble.. pano handles well for its size if u get pasm air but is no where near as engaging as the 991.2
