2013 Panny GTS/Turbo vs 2014
Hi All, was hoping someone could provide some insight on deciding between a 2013 GTS/Turbo vs a '14. Seems the 14s will be a bit of a stretch of the budget as I wanted to stay below 50k, so we may have a consider a 4S for the updated car. Is it worth the decline in trim levels to have the newer car? Is it worth stretching the budget to get a newer year gts/turbo? Would love to hear your thoughts.

See if you can drive examples of both the 970.1 and 970.2. I found the 970.2 to be worth seeking for the improved PDK alone. There are a number of other refinements to the infotainment and tech as well. A 970.2 4S will have the turbo v6 in place of the na V8 in the 4S 970.1. You should drive both to decide which you prefer. A 970.2 GTS is a quite different experience from a 970.2 4S. The turbo v6 is quite reserved in terms of character while the na V8 in the GTS is very much the opposite. Only you can decide if a 970.2 is worth the budget stretch.

PDCC/PTV+ (they come together) is a very nice option. Even at a slightly sporty pace (no where near hard pushing) you can feel the PTV enhancing turn in response to the steering wheel input. That option is something that sets the driving dynamic apart from its competition.

The 2014 has some very minor improvements. It’s generally a better idea to get the newest year you can afford! I wouldn’t pass up a great deal or option package in a 2013 though that fits you and your budget. There is nothing earth shatteringly different.
Arguably, depending on how long you keep cars, you might be better off with the cheapest low mileage 970 with all the fixings, then waiting for the price in the 971 m’s to drop.
I’m very surprised that 2017 Turbo Panny are already within $20,000 of the 2015-2016 used model....
If I were you, I would get a 2011-2012 Turbo S with lower miles. It will have gobs of power, a bit of rarity, have all of the active handling options, hold its value, and be a bit less than a 2014 GTS. In GTS form, the 970 is a bit underpowered in today's horsepower wars, and there isn't much room to grow with mods.

I personally like the look of the originals (970) vs the facelift but actually recently made the same jump myself. I found the newer car to be quite a bit more comfortable than the old car. There is naturally some small amount of compromise towards road feedback.

to me getting the less bubbly rear window of the 14+ is well worth it. When I was looking for my Panamera GTS I was pretty adamant it had to be 2014 or newer. I much preferred the updates, and of course the rear window was a big improvement IMO. Like most say get the newest you can afford, and maybe consider delaying until you can maybe increase budget or find exactly the car you want. My search lasted about 6 months. In that time I was able to increase my budget a good bit, and I got exactly what I wanted. I ended up with a 2016 GTS, GT silver metallic, GTS interior package and the wheels I preferred with CPO warranty until 2021, and only 11K miles on the clock It was definitely worth the wait.

good to know the gts is a bit underpowered. That’s how I feel about the CGTS but thought pgts May feel a bit better. Turbo it is! We looked at the 2010 yesterday and while the price is nice, it was more of a luxury build than a sporty build and wasn’t for me.
