I checked and I guess my PDK learned well because it doesn't start out in 2nd in any mode. That said, it's a little quicker to upshift to 2nd than I'd prefer some times.

Moving quickly from the brake to the gas drops the PDK into first gear, instantaneously. Nice feature but scared me the first time it happened. I’ve also found that driving in stop and go traffic frequently messes with the PDK “learning” so I use the throttle more aggressively, periodically, to unlearn the sluggish performance. These cars have a number of features that have taken me a long time to discover.
