DIY: Panamera turbo spark plug / coil replacement

Yes, just did this and invaluable. Slide #7 is the worst part unless you have dwarf hands. Used two sided tape stuck to the screw head and a screwdriver to get it back in the hole for tightening. MacGyver 1....German Engineers 0. Randy

Great report, BUT it is limited to 970 models. The 2017+ 971 is has an entirely different motor though same cylinder count. I had a '14S which I changed plugs. Now have a '17 Turbo, and I think a plug change will be much more complicated. Has anyone changed plugs on a 971?

Shout out to @ciaka . Your spark plug instructions were invaluable. Just changed the plugs and coils on my 2014 GTS this morning (40,000 miles and 7 years in service) without damaging anything. The GTS has some interference from the intake sound “symposer” for one plug on the drivers side but unclipping the symposer bracket and rotating it reduces the interference. Bosch plugs for the GTS recommended 21 ft-lbs torque for new plugs.

Thanks Ciaka! Did air filter, coils and plugs today on my 2010 turbo. Couldn’t have done it as quickly/efficiently without your instructions!
I was surprised to see all of my coils were cracked in the exact same spot. Glad I ordered a kit from fcp euro instead of plugs only!

Still invaluable DIY instruction today (August 2021). I'm in the middle of replacing coils and plugs on my 2010 PTT after the car displayed the plethora of fault codes reported in the posts above. I'm counting on this coil/plug swap out solving the misfire (rough running) problem - limped home on the interstate downshifting to 6th gear then speeding up in 6th before the car ran rough again after upshifting to 7th (car could not accelerate in 7th smoothly, only decelerate) - did this a couple hundred times to get home. I didn't have all the tools needed to do the job in one day. Now I do. Ordered parts (plugs and coils) from FCP Euro as part of a kit. They sent me a different coil than Ciaka shows (~ the same which came out of my 2010 PTT). The Beru (OE) coil part # FCP Euro sent me is: 040 102 042. Reconfirmed on their website this is the correct part for my 2010, even though Ciaka says his 2011 PTT required a different coil part #. Will call FCP Euro tomorrow to confirm they sent me the right part.
Agree with the previous post that image #7 above was difficult to accomplish. It's a very tight squeeze (driver's side, towards the firewall coil access). Somebody previously broke the plastic wire harness clamp because of the lack of space to maneuver. Difficult job to do without breaking something. Will probably break a few more things before I finish. Nevertheless, a very helpful DIY "go-by." Thank you, Ciaka.
