Question e-hybrid uses 2.9L twin turbo?

Just started looking at the new Panamera since the "base" models are out now. Surprised when I noticed the base engine is a 330hp 3.0L single turbo V6 and the e-hybrid apparently uses a 330hp version of the 2.9L twin turbo V6 which is be good for an 440hp in the S.
Does that mean a turbo V8-like 550hp+ e-hybrid is an "easy" ecu tune away?

Well observed.I have a new Panamera Hybrid and seriously contemplating an ECU tune up to 570HP..Its easily achievable because all you're basically doing is re-setting factory settings..I'm waiting for confirmation from a well known UK tuner who have assured me its close to finalising one..

Please post when you receive the information from your well know tuner. Interested in how difficult to install and if necessary remove.

my 2 cents - you can tune the V6 as much as you want but if your gearbox can't take the torque then you won't get the power on the streets. Don't forget that the gearbox of the e-hybrid is always exposed to 400Nm of torque from the electric motor. I guess that is why the V6 has been castrated to 330 HP.

It's possible it's the same gear box and electric motor as in the Turbo S hybrid. Both are 8-speed PDK's with the exact same electric specs.

i am new to Porsche but having spent over 13 years with BMW, I know that the standard 8 speed gearbox used across all 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 series look the same from what you read in the prospects but different non-bmw technical documents confirm that there are different variation of the gearbox taking different levels of torque. I assume this is the same with the PDK.

Hi, did you ever find out if it the same engine specs? Very interested in getting my Panamera remapped.

@ Paul,

I've searched for this as well, and from what I've been able to gather through Porsche's parts catalog, the 2.9L from the 4S has different part number for the cylinder heads from 2.9L from the 4EH (subfixed with 'A') -- engine block, turbos, transmission, etc. all share the same part numbers. FWIW, this leads me to the belief that the 4EH 2.9L is detuned through a combination of cylinder head (camshafts, perhaps?) and a milder ECU map.

I run a Racechip GTS black for the 4EH 2.9L that supposedly brings the total output to 532hp / 567 ft-lb torque. The piggyback does make the car peppier and louder even with stock, non-sport exhaust, esp. in higher tune settings (e.g., 5, 6), but I haven't had the chance to compare vs. a 4S or through a dyno.

@ c17r15, are you happy with Racechip for your 4EH? I'm receiving my 2022 4EH this week and looking for the best tuning option.

I put a JB4 on my 21 Cayenne S. I run Map 2 with 93 pump. No other mods — car use for my wife to drive but I drive it occasionally. JB4 is a more complicated install but has more potential due to the additional sensor input. No idea on power but Burger has a dyno and some time to speed testing results on its website. Don’t know whether it fits the Panamerica but would assume Porsche uses the same ECU for both vehicles. Another 80 rwhp would be more noticeable in the lighter Panamerica.

Yes, I’m happy with the Racechip!

Can’t speak to whether it is the absolute most power added vs all the alternative tunes / piggybacks, but the noticeable power increase combined with ease of use (on/off and adjusting the tune from econ to jacked-up on a scale of 1-7, all from an app on your phone) has worked well for me.

If you can hold for a month, RaceChip has ran Black Friday specials in the past
