Why would you solicit advice on breaking-in procedure when the manufacturer took the time to prescribe the procedure in the owner's manual? I've owned 5 Porsche from 944 through 993 and now a 4S and have always followed the manufacturer's info with no issues. ps: my dash mfd allows me to set whichever variable I want to monitor including engine and oil temperatures.

Really, 1685 miles to break in, what's the issue, just do it and be done with it. Why question the mfg's wisdom? On the other hand, if you're impatient go for it and maybe you'll be lucky.
