When you say things like they are larger than the previous E60 550 I get very disappointed. There's not much I want more than a small RWD bmw sedan. I was considering the S3 for a moment just due to how compact it was. A real looker. However it is very point and squirt. Not my kind of driving tool. Plus, and this is weird, I can't imagine having such a little car with a form of auto/dsg/dct. Something about a car that small just needs an mt. I have no reasoning for this and I know it sounds silly. Also I would like to see Porsche's take on a small E90 sized sedan. Maybe share powertrains with the macan and have it be sub panamera in the hierarchy. However I don't think it would be profitable since everyone wants CUV/SUV these days.

I drove the M3 a couple of years ago and didn't LOVE it. certainly a nice car, but i'm looking for something a little more fun. I have a Cayenne GTS for DD#1 and my wife has a Yukon XL for full family hauling duties. I'm thinking M2 for DD#2, and something i can drive to work. I considered a Focus RS, but it's maybe a little too boy racer for me.

I have 2017 M3 as my winter beater / second car. I highly recommend it.
I know you asked about the M2, but as a second car I feel the the M3 ticks all the boxes and adds some practicality. Plus as a daily driver, I feel the and finish of the M3 is a little better than the M2.

Focus RS feels cheap inside relative to BMW.
Funny, one thing I really liked about my M3 was the Sensatech - think it's called Carbonstructure now - interior option. Seats provided much better grip than leather option. I'd probably give M2 a try if they could be spec'd with this interior.

Is it possible that a BMW M2 can give as much driving fun than a porsche GT?

Sure why not. Depends on what you're looking for in a car for driving pleasure. I think all sports cars and sporty cars have their place and respective lovers. As much as I love my GT4 my GTi is a more of a hoot around town. That car comes to 7/10ths nearly every day I drive it. 2nd gear in the GT4 is motorway pace. On the other hand my Macan GTS has a nice bit of shove when I bury the throttle in light traffic and has a good little sound with it. The GT4 must be used on track or a back road on Sunday for me to get real enjoyment out of it. I will say however the GT4 makes me feel special when I am driving it around town and the other cars do not. I think the M2 is a great little package and for me has lots of performance.

I considered the M3, and i think it would be a better primary DD, but this is going to be a car for me to drive to and from work when I don't drive my Cayenne. I also like that it's a little rarer and will likely hold it's value better than an M3.
I think i tracked down a build able allocation for April-May delivery, I'm trying to wrap that up. I did find a White one available now, but my GT3 is white so I wanted to get blue...now, if i get a spot for the .2 GT3, i'll get that in SBM or PTS if i can, then i'll be in same boat with 2 blue cars, but that would be a nice problem to have!

The M2 as a modern DD would be an option given the fairly reasonable entry price tag.
Have to say being an M car enthusiast for many years it fairs poorly against its predecessors.
Very cheap interior compared to M3/M4 and minus the bonnet hump.
M235i would give 95% at 70% of the outlay.

M235i very boring car. No connection or feel for the driver.
bad suspension, brakes, looks.
I think a m2 is much better. But perhaps not good enough for GT guys.?
