BMW Becoming "ghetto" Brand
 

There are too many "ghetto" BMWs these days. The brand has been adopted by the ghetto crowd. I see so many cheap 325i with blacked out everything, fart can muffler, stickers, no emblem and some ghetto guy in a wife beater in the seat.

What caused this, and could it eventually happen to Porsche?

Porsche still has some mystique. Good and bad.

I don't think it will become ghetto because:

1. All Porsche sports cars are effectively two seaters.
2. All practical Porsche's are not what the brand is known for despite their sales volume
3. The young kids want to get what a brand is known for.

BMW is known for their 3 series and the holy grail is the still practical M3. Also, I think there are plenty of Porsche enthusiasts ready to buy the brand's car in any price range. Whereas BMW guys are busy leasing or buying the newest gen (<5 years).

I have been seeing "tricked out" BMW since the early 90's....nothing new.

There will always be some who do questionable things to their car .... no matter the marque.

What exactly is "ghetto"
 

I enjoy the car community.. I enjoy modded cars (good and bad) because it's a matter of expression. This is what keeps the aftermarket car manufacturers creating new goodies..

What is ghetto? Is it a part of town? Is it a demographic that should not mod cars? Is it a demographic that should not model certain marquee brands?

Is it like saying "Rennlist is a ’crappy’ forum” because they let any simpleton post whatever pops in their feeble mind.... That sure would kill the matter of expression though so I will keep that to myself.
