Having had a regular B302, a LS and a GT350 now, yes the performance gap between these cars is very wide. The B302 does not come close to the level of the 991.1 GT3, the GT350 does. The main delta is not so much the tires (although it definitely helps) it's the IRS, the additional 82 hp, 8250 redline, magneride suspension, the brakes on the GT350 are so much better compared to the meager stoppers on the B302, and the Tremec 3160 in the GT350 puts the crap Chinese MT82 gearbox in the Boss 302 to shame. Grabbing 3rd under power with any consistency is futile in that transmission and it's a glaring example of the Boss 302's inferiority, along with the stick axle. The B302 has a touch more torque down low than the GT350, but other than that, there is nothing better in a Boss 302 compared to a GT350.
Furthermore I don't think any of these cars will have collectable value within the next 15-20 years. What the old muscle car era had in its favor as far as collectability and value is concerned was the gas crisis. It took the big three another decade + to reach the performance of those old cars from 67-71 or so.

Same here... I owned a '12 Boss 302 from 2012-2015 and then owned a '15 GT350 Track Pack from 2015-2016... and now I have a '17 GT350R since last year. I liked my 302 but in stock OEM form, the GT350/GT350R is overall so much better than the Boss 302.... that's how much I really like the GT350. A Laguna Seca won't significantly narrow that gap neither IMO. No way would I choose the former again over the Voodoo Shelby. Case closed.

On a forum dedicated to Porsches which have IRS you would not tend to think there would be any interest in an American Muscle V8 with a stick axle....but there was alot of interest back in 2012/13 here in the car. Doesn't surprise me that the first IRS Mustang track car would generate alot of interest in the Porsche forum here. And???? Further GT 350 production continues from 2015 and is expected to continue into 2019 while the Boss was produced only 2 years. Seems alot of guys who bought GT350s are bailing out too. Over 300 listings on CarGurus. R values have plummeted. Most Boss owners have been long term owners.
While the posts on the GT350 fan (I do like the car) thread here continue Ford was REAL quick to give the "hook" to the GT350RC in WEC/Continnental competition due to reliability and vibration issues. They "buried them out back" as I was told from the guys who raced them. I asked what happened. Ford replaced the "vibrators" with the Boss 302 drive train again punched to 5.2. Same power/torque but reliable and they don't don't shake themselves to death.
Also when I was at the Rolex last year the Mustang GT4 cars were going through half shafts like starved hobos going through a bag of Dunkin Donuts glazed muchkins. In fact, one "participant" asked if I had my Boss TA2 there at the event half joking saying he wanted to pull the rear out of my Boss and use it. The Boss stick axle works great and is dead reliable. But bigger meats on the Boss and the game has changed. REEEAAAL close at that point.
Sorry, but to my ears the CPC sounds kinda odd. Like "Chubka Gargling". At least to me.
I have also driven a GT350 (tech pack) at the track. Faster then the Boss?. Yeah. Leaps and Bounds. Nope. Thats make believe hype.
Do I like the GT350 sure. Cool car. Great track car. Great bang for the buck.
Lets agree to disagree.

There was interest in the Boss 302 until there wasn't and that happened when the GT350 came out. Will the GT500 have the same purpose? We'll see and if it does then GT350 will no longer be the top dog Mustang and will take its place in history just like the Boss 302.

While you say you like the car, it's obvious from all the hyperbole that you have an axe to grind.

No axe to grind. I’ve been a Shelby fan and owner for over 30 years. I just call it the way it is. Don’t like hyperbole or BS . The GT 350 is a superior track car to the Boss based on better brakes, improved suspension and more power. I am not disputing that. I am disputing the characterizations of being “leaps and bounds “faster. I merely pointed out that the main Delta difference is in the size of the tires. Have you ever looked at and compared a 275 to a 305?
Yes, the GT 350 RC did win the championship it’s class which I am not disputing but it was a maintenance nightmare. If it was so dominant and wasn’t a maintenance nightmare there would be no reason why it quickly and quietly disappeared. This is not conjecture on my part this is straight information from the guys who race in WEC and the continental. Why do you think that the new customer Mustang GT4 does not run a cross plane crank and never did? Why do you think they went back to a Boss drivetrain with a 5.2 Aluminator? Because the 5.2 flat plane crank voodoo was such a great race engine????? Lol. Come on get real . They’ve got piles of Cross plane crank 5.2 engines and more to spare available.
The boss 302 won numerous championships and was dead reliable. So much so they’re using it again and it will be just as fast but more reliable than the Voodoo
Gt350. Great car and track day car. Full stop.

Latest Aluminator uses the 5.2 Voodoo block and heads, at a minimum, in addition to parts from the Cobrajet drag car. Not sure what, if any BOSS 302 parts are used?http://performance.ford.com/enthusia...te-engine.html

^Yup... a nice deal and congrats as well @sky57. Excellent choice.
Staying back on the real topic.... the GT350.
Last weekend my buddy was out in his black mamba at Sebring chasing down a supercharged competitor....
