I had additional transmission cooling with the Laguna Seca, but you're right the MT-82 was the achilles heel of the Boss.

The new GT350 has a stout Tremec and it loves 8,250 RPM shifts all day long.

Great video
Affirm - and that was funny - Laguna Seca sound restrictions forces him to lift and wife takes advantage! haha

I have 3k miles on my Track pack and they are all track miles. Not one hiccup.

Hoosiers, Castrol SRF, Race Pads, Auto-blip, datalogger, front and rear cameras have been added since it was at the track last in stock form. Will test out the mods June 18 at Barber Motorsports.

While the GT350R is heavier than a 991 GT3, it also has wider tires and more downforce (and is much more stable in high speed corners). While different tracks will often suit one car's strengths over another, you can throw a blanket over the 350R & 991 GT3 -which have been within half a second of eachother on numerous tracks.

IMO, your average joe, or weekend warrior would be faster in the 350R than a GT3, whose lack of rear downforce, rear engine quirks, and delay of the rear steering makes it much trickier to get the last tenths out of. Then again if the average Joe is really slow and takes turns at the same speed in both cars, the straight line advantage of the GT3 would probably make it the faster car...

The straightline of the 991 GT3 is really mindblowing. 149 mph in the 1/2 mile if I have it correct vs. 142mph in the GT350. That's incredible.

The 149 in the half mile was confirmed about 100 times at the smokies airstrip event

In low speed hairpins, there's a bit of entry understeer and a delay from turn-in to the point where the RWS turns the rear wheels the opposite direction to help rotate the car mid corner. This is exaggerated in low speed change of directions where the 350R changes direction quicker and gains a little on the GT3.

I vaguely recall the 997.2 GT3 being able to rotate a little better under trailbraking than the 991 on entry, but haven't tracked one in a few years and would probably need to back to back them.

Base MY2016 GT350 vid and driven by Matt Farah.... published today:

At least for MY2017, all base cars have Track pack items standard... along with the price increase to reflect the $6500 Track pack option on GT350's in 2015 and 2016.

Probably already posted in this thread, but here's the Motor Trend review and a quote:

http://www.motortrend.com/news/2016-...-drive-review/
The GT350R we drove next felt the same for about 100 yards—and then it felt like an entirely different car. Considering how similar they are on paper, it’s really quite remarkable. The GT350R comes standard with all the Track pack items, plus a functional front splitter, taller rear wing, underbody belly pans with a real diffuser, and side skirts, all said to produce twice the downforce of a Porsche 911 GT3. Of course, the model-specific carbon-fiber wheels and tires add their benefits to the mix. The corner speeds that felt a little dicey and dancing and on the limit in the base GT350 could be taken 10-15 mph faster. (We’re estimating here because we weren’t looking at the speedometer, nor did we have a data logger hooked up.) In all, the differences were dramatic. For instance, we also found a need for fourth gear up the hill on the way to the corkscrew that wasn’t quite possible in the base car. That’s due to both the R’s faster approach to the hill from the prior corner and the extra snap in acceleration from the lower rotational weight afforded by the wheels. Those lightweight wheels not only made the entire car feel lighter and more responsive everywhere, but they also clearly allow it to accelerate harder and stop shorter. Invest in carbon-fiber wheel companies. They’re going to be on everything soon.
I'd seriously consider a 350R.

I cannot wait until my '17R gets to me.
I was told that I'm in wave 1 and probably mid-summer but as of today (June 6) I still don't have a better date.

Any information on the '17?

At MSRP the R seems like a no brainer for performance/cost, but at the crazy prices I've seen them listed for, I don't see how anyone could justify it over the ACR-E. I'm biased, but it just doesn't add up to me. Awesome car nonetheless, and I'd love to own both.
