GT350

Broad generalization, i've worked with Brits, Italians, Polish, and even French who love Americans. The educated citizens understand a little history. We may not sound as cool as the brits but if it wasn't for us cool Britain would be speaking 3rd Reich and everyone knows it.

It's funny, as I wrote the last post, I felt like I was describing myself.

So did you see the latest?
DEARBORN, Mich., March 23, 2016 – Ford Shelby® GT350R Mustang, one of the most iconic performance nameplates of all time, has been named Popular Mechanics Sports Car of the Year. Popular Mechanics says Shelby GT350R was selected from among a host of contenders because it pushes the boundaries of what an American sports car can be. Shelby GT350R’s unique, high-revving flat-plane crankshaft 5.2-liter V8 produces 526 horsepower and 429 lb.-ft. of torque – the most powerful naturally aspirated Ford production engine ever for the most track-capable, street-legal Mustang ever built.
Also did anyone pick up the latest issue of Automobile Magazine? Title is "2016 ALL-STARS" It has a GT350R on the cover - they also got hold of a base model (non Track/Tech pack). In the article they wrote "they both blew us away".

I compare the gt350 against other 4 seat cars in the same price range.
Can't really find anything else that excites me in that price range. M3 is out of the picture. Last good one is e46!
To compare it with a $90k mid engine gt4 is not fair.
I hope it will be ok as a DD and can manage a couple of sessions at Sebring every now and then. I would never sell my 996gt3 track car for it, but it's fun with a bit of variation in this hobby.

I like it better when we talk cars...

I don't understand why they keep bringing up flat-plane crank. Taking an invention that's been around since 1974 by 4 other manufacturers doesn't seem like much of an accomplishment. It's like discovering a new land where people were already living in it.
Also, where is the innovation? If you think about it, there is nothing that's leading or innovating about the car. Unless you count the flat plane crank.
I think Ford did bring up it's game and hope they continue to make progress.

I just try to keep my expectation down. I love the way it sounds. I have yet to drive a 3800 pound car with the engine in the front that performs any were near a Porsche gt car.
I enjoy reading magazines when I sit in airplanes. Makes time fly so to speak. Don't draw to many conclusions from their results. The only way to know what's good in your book is to drive.
If Porsche would make a 4 seater with a flat crank v8 @$60k I know which one I would pick.

997rs4.0, you do know if Porsche made a 4 seat V8 with a flat plane crank @ $60K, the steering wheel, seats, door hinges and dozens of other standard Ford things would all be overpriced options.

Speaking of Porsche with Flat Plane crank, didn't the 928 almost have a flat plane crank? Porsche should bring back the 928 with the 918's V8. That would be a $150K car I wouldn't mind purchasing.

[QUOTE=Para82;13150995]I really need to test the GT4 - heard great things and everything about it speaks to me until I look at the rear-end and I get upset it looks like a Cayman. That kills me. I already had to throw a Cayman S out of my garage after only 36 hours I hated it that much - though a 3.8 and a 6 speed manual would be intense in that mid engine configuration i'm sure the Cayman S PDK I drove is no comparison to the GT4.
Well, clearly your positive gt350 reviews are of no help to me ! You hated a 981CS and absolutely love the GT350. I absolutely loved my 981CS when I first got it (except for its rear end which I agree looks pretty awful)...I am just bored of it now. Clearly we appreciate very different things in automobiles.
Different strokes for different folks. Now I just need to find a car that I love as much as you love the gt350
btw where is this motortrend gt350 win you speak of, googled it and can't find anysuch thing?

Road and Track 2016 Performance Car of the Year (not MotorTrend)
Took this photo testing a Nikon D3000 - think I like this camera.

The May 2016 issue of evo magazine just reviewed the GT350. Very positive review - 4.5 stars.
