^ This

I tracked a 3600# Boss 302 with Recaros and Brembos and felt every heavy # under braking and turning. Great street car for hooning around but not a track car by any means.

Sounds like an awesome car but I agree with Eddie and Peter. Oink, Oink.

It will be hard to find a Camaro Z28 doing 2:15-2:14 at Sebring, but if I do, I'll make sure I'll post the videos.... God forbid if they don't

Lots of respect (some of it attributable to the 991-3 blow up) but have my doubts that ANYONE on this thread would put one in their garage. For all the pluses, it's just too heavy, she'll need Hoosiers, pads and carbon rotors by the truckload.

Porsche is pushing a very core group of people away. I guess my point is, they will have a much easier time opting for a Viper or Vette, Mustang or Camaro than they did 10 years ago.
Exactly. Great points. I have had a distinctly personal connection with my Porsches, and my RS is extra special. I just can't see myself driving a Vette or Camaro on the street and having to double as a track car. I have had 3 Vettes btw, C5 Z06's, an 01 and an 03. My Porsches have been and are weekend toys. I love the iconic shape, the feel of the car on the road, and the truly visceral connection between man and machine that has characterized my Porsche experience. I'll sometimes have a glass of wine in the garage after I've cleaned it, too...just admiring those pure, clean lines. I just hope they don't lose that Porsche essence with the 991 GT3. The 991 S left me wanting, hence my 11 RS. I'll reserve judgment on the new GT3s. I am considering a track only C6 Z06 in the future, we'll see. Maybe that would be the best of both worlds.

I'm going on record right here, right now to predict the Z/28 will be turning lap times on any given track faster than .2 GT3RS. OE stock car vs OE stock car on OE stock rubber. I am also going on record to predict a 'Ring time within 3 seconds of the forthcoming 991 GT3 (not RS) with all it's whizz-bang robotic trickery.

$~70 vs $140k. That is some expensive "feel" for those who wish to make that argument

Hammer me all you like, the truth will be out in six months or so. "The Z/28 is the track car value of the past decade" - savyboy, April 9, 2013

I like your enthusiasm and I will reiterate that I think the Z/28 is an awesome car and I'm glad GM made it.

However, for pure track performance, why not a left over Corvette Z06/Z07 for similiar money? Discounts are huge as I mentioned previously. Buddy got a leftover brand new '11 Z07 with 15 miles on it for $69k. Sticker was $97k and dealership just wanted it gone as the '13 model was coming in.

A Z07 on sport cups is going to work over a Z/28 and pretty much any other stock production car on the track.

All that said, the Z/28 is a bad mama jama and it will definitely look more uniquie and be 'cooler' than a Z07 Z06. So, you won't get crap from me for getting it!

I agree. Think it will be one fast pig. Oink Oink. Speed is not the only thing I am looking for.

You make a cogent, rational argument. Bolded is my personal attraction Plus, I want to support GM's incredible effort and spirit to make this car a reality. And, we don't yet know that a stock vs stock current Z07 will work over a Z/28 Let's see shall we?

Porsche lost touch with the grassroots level enthusiasts many years ago, not a company I want to support right now.
