Should I buy out my Audi S6 at the end of the lease?
90 days remaining on my Audi S6 lease (3/30k miles), and since the car is way under miles (14k miles) and a quick search of the used market shows my buy-out is about $5k less than market value ( buyout is $47k), I'm considering buying out the lease and driving it another year and then selling it at that point (warranty ends in a year). I've loved the car but I do also enjoy changing cars. I'm wondering from a purely financial standpoint if that $5k in equity will matter much compared to the financial friction of selling it myself in a year, with the unknowns in the used car market and the general hassle. If I could have some confidence that I could buy it and basically drive it for a year for free due to the equity equaling the depreciation, I would do it.
Any thoughts?

Easier to sell with a warranty so I would sell it 4 months before it expires.

I'd rather dump it now. Also with the $5k of equity you have, how much sales tax are you going to pay to buy it out? I'd guess $2-3k?

Is your $5k equity number including the sales tax on the buyout? Not sure where you are located, but in San Mateo County you could be looking as high as 9.75% which would wipe out almost all of the 5k.
