Trading my 991 for the Alfa Romeo 4C
OK, not really, at least not yet. But I am tempted.
A few days ago I had a chance to drive the 4C.
It felt like driving a go-cart. It felt like being ONE with the car.
Yes, the tiny turbo-4 engine is laggy, and on the track the car will surely be inferior even to the base 991.
But the 4C is full of life and joy which it spreads to the driver.
I've been thinking about the Ferrari 458 or 488 at some point in the future, but in the meantime for me the little Alfa ticks off all the right boxes and tickles all the right nerves.

You know fellas? Keep you 991 and add a Gen-1 987.2 Spyder. They are INCREDIBLE cars (I know as I am on my 2nd) and will give you 98% of the Alfa 4C without the turbo lag etc... And... they're yet undiscovered and relatively inexpensive.
Just saying...

If you are truly a car guy, then you must own an Alfa along the way. It's part of club membership.

If you are truly a car guy, you will only ever own ONE Alfa along the way.
It is an emotional experience. An Alfa is incomparable to Porsche from an engineering or performance perspective, but the 'life and joy' you mention, precisely nails it!
Good luck!

+1. The 4c is way too slow for the comfort and reliability you give up going to it.

However, it didn't impress me emotionally the way the 4C did.

I was a die hard Porsche fanatic until I bought a Lotus Elise SC, wow it totally changed my perspectives about sport cars. Once you drive a Lotus Elise or Exige, every other car feels numb, big and isolated. I ended up selling my Carrera S after not driving it enough. Well, after a year with the Lotus I added an Alfa Romeo 4C to my garage. Feels like the Lotus but a little more civilize and modern. It's very fast with a stage 2 tune and intake. It's also very reliable. I'm not looking back at all. Now, if you daily your car I would keep the Porsche. The Lotus and the Alfa are very raw and wild for daily driving, basically a street legal go-kart. Drive one with a tune and you will experience what I'm talking about......
