I'm sure it will be crazy high performance. But also - numb / turbo. Sticking w NA.

its funny how many people are going this way, i'm picking up a 720s for the week and if i like it will order, but i don't see it as an alternative to P, rather keep it together with the incoming 991.2 3RS

I am amazed by the quality control issues with McLaren cars at their price point. Several of my friends have Maccas including the 650S, 675LT, 570 and the new 720. They all complain about annoying little things that constantly go wrong with stuff like electrical faults, media interface, panel gaps not being even etc. I understand it is a British car but that is ridiculous for such an expensive car being made today. When they work - I guess they are exciting cars to drive. The British reviewers always seem to love them no matter what.

I cannot speak of other markets but in AU the 720s is about 20% cheaper than a GT2RS, so the trade off is in my view acceptable,

Macca is a hand built car. Body gaps show mans struggle to reach a given goal. A goal that is fine with me. I do love my Porsches, don't get me wrong, but my love is dropped like an egg into a carpet. Want but cannot buy.

I like variety and Porsches are my favorite. I’ve had a couple Ferraris, a Huracan and a 12C spider in the past. My 570S has outlasted them all. I don’t know why. I love driving it and I love the way it looks. The LT version will be cool but I hope the price doesn’t scare me off. I don’t think it’s going to be the same hit that the 675LT was. I’ll probably wait for a used one. If I don’t get a 991.2 RS I will get the LT version of the 570S. I’m not playing Porsche games anymore.

Against better judgement (dealer availability, reliability,...) I am still very interested in this car. I'm looking forward to finding out about the specs, price and availability.

I think the steering has the potential to be less numb than Porsche. I think they really made the right call with hydraulic steering with the pump driven by an electric motor (best of all worlds like Porsche 911 factory race cars).

The mclaren steering is a lot better than the electric porsche steering, as is the suspension.
The porsche brakes remain world beaters with the lone exception the 675LT brakes which are incredible- especially due to the 2950lb weight.
There is no perfect car- especially one so highly customizable- the whole exclusive process on the 911 really is what keeps the prices below 200 (gt3, in black interior only) or 250 (RS)
The mclarens, you can literally paint the color 500 different colors and there are 80 different interior color/materials not to mention the 20-40 stitching colors. It really is a blank slate to be yourself.
They are nowhere near as automated (so some QC issues from not using so many machines) but they do a lot of things right.
